Génesis was a Colombian folk-rock band, very popular during the 1970s. They are regarded as a significant part of the Colombian social progressive and hippy movements of the time. Génesis is considered a pioneer in fusing rock music with the native folk music of Colombia. Colombian icon Humberto Monroy of Los Speakers was a founding member and driving force behind the band.

Genesis (spacecraft)

Genesis was a NASA sample return probe that collected a sample of solar wind and returned it to Earth for analysis. It was the first NASA sample return mission to return material since the Apollo Program, and the first to return material from beyond the orbit of the Moon. Genesis was launched on August 8, 2001, and crash-landed in Utah on September 8, 2004, after a design flaw prevented the deployment of its drogue parachute. The crash contaminated many of the sample collectors, and although most were damaged, some of the collectors were successfully recovered.

The Genesis science team demonstrated that some of the contamination could be removed or avoided, and that the solar wind could be analyzed using a variety of approaches, achieving all of the mission's major science objectives.

Genesis (comics)

Genesis (Tyler Dayspring) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a mutant and foe of Cable and Wolverine. He first appeared in a flashback in X-Force #1 (1991). His first appearance as "Mister Tolliver" is in X-Force #5 (1992) and his first appearance as Genesis was in Cable volume 2 #19.

In his first appearance, drawn by Rob Liefeld, Tyler has dark hair, but in all his later appearances, Tyler is blond. Some sources state that he is actually Cable's son. Others state that he is Cable's 'nephew' since his father was Stryfe. Tyler's true biological parentage, however, has yet to be proven.

Genesis is the twelfth studio album from the English rock band Genesis, released in October 1983 on Charisma Records. The band decided on its title as each of the album's nine tracks were written as a group. The album cover depicts the shapes from a Shape-O, a children's toy made by Tupperware. Mike Rutherford referred to this album as his favorite Genesis album. According to AllMusic, the album established that Genesis were "now primarily a pop band", although " art rock functions as coloring to the pop songs".

"Genesis" is the pilot episode of the NBC science fiction drama series Heroes. It was directed by David Semel and written by Tim Kring. The episode focuses on several of the main characters discovering their superpowers for the first time, and attempting to find out more about them. Some cast members, including Greg Grunberg and Leonard Roberts, do not appear in this episode, and are introduced later in the season (scenes including Grunberg were originally included in this episode but were cut before it aired).

Genesis (Talisman album)

Genesis was the 2nd studio album by hard rock band Talisman released on 7 July 1993 on Dino Records.

Drummer Jake Samuels had left them to join Zinny J. Zan's band and then Marcel Jacob made all programmed drums used on the recording with an Alesis SR-16.

The album was recorded and mixed in three weeks in December 1992 at Stocksund Recording Studios. The band had a little help from Mats Lindfors (who later did the mixing) with engineering, and then Marcel Jacob recorded himself and Fredrik Åkesson.

Soto joined recording along with his then-girlfriend Julie Greaux (Billy Idol, Axel Rudi Pell) who ended up playing the grand piano on "All I Want".

When the album was released, the single "Mysterious" got some airplay, the album immediately sold some 15,000+ copies in Sweden. Both Genesis and Talisman garnered some international interest, and were released in Japan on Xero Records.

Genesis is the debut full-length album by American death metal band Job for a Cowboy. Released on May 15, 2007 through Metal Blade Records, it is their first concept album and is based on possible consequences of the VeriChip, along with the Book of Revelation and apocalyptic theories. It also sees Job for a Cowboy's change into a more straightforward death metal based sound with their previous release, Doom being within the deathcore genre.

Those who pre-ordered the album received signed copies in the days preceding its official release date of May 15, 2007. Genesis is the final release by Job for a Cowboy to feature founding member Ravi Bhadriraju. This album also marked the last time the band would work with drummer Elliot Sellers, who announced that he would be leaving the band immediately after recording to go back to school. Zone in Orlando, Florida. It was the third event under the Genesis chronology, the last held in the month of November, and the eleventh event of the 2007 TNA PPV schedule. Eight professional wrestling matches were featured on the event's card, four of which were for championships.

The main event was a tag team match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, in which then-champion Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash defeated the team of Sting and Booker T; Angle gained the pinfall to retain the title. The final round of The 2007 Fight for the Right Tournament was determined in a ladder match, in which Kaz defeated Christian Cage to become number one contender to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Samoa Joe versus Robert Roode was also featured on the card, which Joe won. The Motor City Machine Guns ( Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) defeated Team 3D ( Brother Devon and Brother Ray) in a tag team match.

Genesis is noted for the TNA debut of Booker T. The professional wrestling section of the Canadian Online Explorer website rated the entire event a 7.5 out of 10 stars, higher than the 2006 event's rating of 5.

Genesis (2005) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) promotion that took place on November 13, 2005 at the TNA Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida. It was the first event under the Genesis name and eleventh event in the 2005 TNA PPV schedule. Seven professional wrestling matches and two pre-show matches were featured on the event's card, one of which involved a championship.

The main event was a Six Man Tag Team match pitting the team of Rhino and Team 3D ( Brother Devon and Brother Ray) against the team of Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted ( Chris Harris and James Storm). Rhino and Team 3D won the encounter. The TNA X Division Championship was defended by then-champion A.J. Styles against the challenger Petey Williams at the event. Styles defeated Williams to retain the championship. A No Disqualification match between Abyss and Sabu was held at the show. Abyss won the contest. A match to determine the number-one contender to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship took place at Genesis, in which Monty Brown defeated Jeff Hardy for a future title match.

Genesis is remembered for the debut of Christian Cage. It was also dedicated to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler Eddie Guerrero, who died the day of the show. Cage's debut was ranked by TNA as the 5th greatest moment in the company's history. Corey David Lacroix of the professional wrestling section of the Canadian Online Explorer rated the show an 8 out of 10, higher than the 2006 edition of 5 out of 10 by Bob Kapur.
