Flashback (1992 video game)

Flashback, released as Flashback: The Quest for Identity in the United States, is a 1992 science fiction cinematic platform game developed by Delphine Software of France and published by U.S. Gold in United States and Europe, and Sunsoft in Japan.

The game was directed, written/designed and partially programmed by Paul Cuisset, who had previously created the adventure game Future Wars. Flashback was initially released for the Amiga in 1992, then ported to MS-DOS, Acorn Archimedes, Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES in 1993. CD-ROM versions of Flashback for the Sega CD, 3DO, CD-i, MS-DOS, Apple Macintosh and the FM Towns were released during 1994 and 1995, together with a cartridge version for the Atari Jaguar in 1995.

Originally advertised as a " CD-ROM game on a cartridge", the game features fully hand-drawn backdrops and all animation is rotoscoped, giving movements an unusual fluidity, similar to that of the earlier Prince of Persia. The capture technique of Flashback was invented independently of Prince of Persia, and used a more complicated method of first tracing video images onto transparencies.

The game was a commercial and critical success and was listed in the Guinness World Records as the best-selling French game of all time. It was followed by a sequel titled Fade to Black in 1995. In 2013, a Flashback remake by VectorCell was released for the PC and consoles.

These experiences can be happy, sad, exciting, or any other emotion one can consider. Flashback (Flash animation)

Flashback is a Flash animation by Danny Gomez. It has been widely circulated around the Internet, especially in psychedelic trance and goa trance communities. For many others, outside of these communities, it served as their first introduction to this genre of music.

The animation starts out from a fly's point of view traversing through a landscape and various rooms in a city. It flies into a psychiatrist's office, where a patient (Gomez, credited as "Someone Else"), complains to his doctor (credit as " Albert Hofmann as Doc") that he suffers from hallucinations. The doctor decides to introduce a new experimental hypnosis influenced by shamanic medicine, by lighting an incense candle and banging on a drum, which apparently causes the patient to go into a trance. The rest of the video features psychedelic music and intense imagery, the images taken from the artwork 'Discover', also by Danny Gomez. The video ends with the camera following the same path as the fly originally did at the start, and then going into a green wireframe tunnel, where at the end, a three-eyed cartoon face repeats the phrase "Då var det slut" (subtitled as "This intro was too loooong"), which is Swedish for "Then it was over."

Flashback serves as an unauthorized music video for Shpongle's track "Divine Moments of Truth" from the Are You Shpongled? album. While it is not clear whether or not the band endorses the work, they have made no attempt to have it removed from circulation even though the Shpongle Mask is also used in the video. The video is currently featured on Shpongle's MySpace profile.

At the World Psychedelic Forum in Basel, the American psychedelic artist Alex Grey cited the Swedish artist Danny Gomez as one of his personal favorites and the open and official discussion after the lecture returned to the artist and his work several times.

Flashback (narrative)

A flashback is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. Flashbacks are often used to recount events that happened before the story's primary sequence of events to fill in crucial backstory. In the opposite direction, a flashforward (or prolepsis) reveals events that will occur in the future. Both flashback and flashforward are used to cohere a story, develop a character, or add structure to the narrative. In literature, internal analepsis is a flashback to an earlier point in the narrative; external analepsis is a flashback to a time before the narrative started.

In movies and television, several camera techniques and special effects have evolved to alert the viewer that the action shown is a flashback or flashforward; for example, the edges of the picture may be deliberately blurred, photography may be jarring or choppy, or unusual coloration or sepia tone, or monochrome when most of the story is in full color, may be used.

Flashback (Ivy Queen album)

Flashback is the fifth studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen, released on October 4, 2005 through Univision and on September 15, 2007 as Greatest Hits in Germany and Spain. It is often considered as a studio-compilation release due to the amount of the album being previously released material. Queen began working on Flashback after the moderate success of Real in early 2005. Featuring content dating back to 1995, when she was still a part of the all-male group The Noise, the album includes four new pieces of work all produced by Rafi Mercenario, the genre's most requested record producer at the time.

The four tracks were written and recorded after the end of Queen's nine-year marriage to Omar Navarro, months before the album's release. Lyrically, the remaining sixteen tracks tell stories of female empowerment, love and heartbreak and sociopolitical criticism. Following an international tour of South America which began in 2004 and presentations in the United States, Ivy Queen partnered with the co-founder of Perfect Image Records, José Guadalupe, to form her own record label Filtro Musik and signed a distribution deal with Univision Music Group in 2005. She was previously signed to Guadalupe's independent label Perfect Image Records which was distributed by Universal Music Latino. The Flashback Tour was launched in September 2005 to promote the album.

It spawned three singles, " Cuéntale", " Te He Querido, Te He Llorado", and " Libertad", all of which reached the Top 10 of various Latin charts in the United States. Commercially successful in the Latin market, the album peaked at number ten on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, becoming her highest peak on that chart, until 2007 when her sixth studio album reached number four. Despite selling 5,000 copies in its first week, it failed to debut on the Billboard 200. It also reached number seven on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, number two on both the Billboard Top Heatseekers (Pacific) and Billboard Top Heatseekers (South Atlantic) chart. It reached number three on the newly instated Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums chart, making the album ineligible for the Tropical Albums and Reggae Albums charts, which had previously been dominated by Queen.

The album was met with generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its lyrical content and musical production whilst some noticed that Queen's 1998 duet with Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean, " In The Zone", was missing from the track list. Critics also noted that there was scarce new material to be found on the album, but complimented the album's track list. It became one of the best-selling reggaetón albums of 2005 along with Real, when sales of both albums went "through the roof". This gained Queen several nominations for awards. At the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2006, it was nominated for "Reggaetón Album of the Year" and for " Urban Album of the Year" at the Premio Lo Nuestro 2007 award ceremony. It received a nomination for "Compilation Album of the Year" at the 2007 People's Choice Reggaetón and Urban Awards.

"Call Me Lightning" and "Summertime Blues" were later added as bonus tracks on reissues of Bad Reputation and "Louie Louie" became a bonus track on the reissue of I Love Rock 'N Roll. "Star Star" was included as an unlisted "surprise" track on the 1983 cassette release of Album, but was later removed after the original cassette was pulled from some stores because of non-labelled "explicit" track lyrics.
