Vox (musical equipment)

Vox is a musical equipment manufacturer which is most famous for making the Vox AC30 guitar amplifier, the Vox Continental electric organ, and a series of innovative but commercially unsuccessful electric guitars and bass guitars. Founded in Dartford, Kent, England, Vox has been owned by the Japanese electronics firm Korg since 1992.

VOX (TV channel)

VOX or Vox is a German television channel, headquartered in Cologne and part of the RTL Group, Europe's second largest TV, radio, and production company. The channel officially launched at 5:00pm on January 25, 1993. Prior to that, test transmissions had been made using the informal name Westschienenkanal (West slot channel, a reference to Nordschienenkanal and Südschienenkanal, the informal names used in the 1980s for the other two German private channels RTL and Sat.1). The channel mainly broadcasts documentaries and US series and movies.

Vox (song)

"Vox" is the debut single by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. It was released in 1988 in Canada from her album Touch, and as a CD-single in 1992. The 1989 Arista Records release of Touch contained a different mix of the song from the original 1988 album, and different extended remixes were released as well.

"Vox" was also featured on McLachlan's 2005 Bloom: Remix Album as a contemporary dance remix by Tom Middleton.

Vox is a children's fantasy novel by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell, first published in 2003. It is the sixth volume of The Edge Chronicles and the second of the Rook Saga trilogy; within the stories' own chronology it is the eighth novel, following the Quint Saga and Twig Saga trilogies.

Vox (blogging platform)

Vox was an Internet blogging service run by Six Apart. Announced on September 21, 2005 by Six Apart president Mena Trott at the DEMO Fall conference under the codename "Project Comet," the site began private alpha testing in March 2006. In June 2006, the site entered public beta—opening registration to outside users on a limited basis via an invitation system—and transitioned to its official name Vox, moving the site to the domain Vox.com. Vox officially launched on October 26, 2006, with registration opened to the general public.

Developed as a Web 2.0-oriented service, Vox emphasized integrated social networking and community interaction features; a simple, clean aesthetic, with an easy-to-use posting system; granular privacy controls for content viewing permissions; and rich media content, including integration with various web services such as Amazon.com, YouTube, Flickr, and Photobucket. Vox was written in Perl, using the Catalyst framework.

On September 2, 2010, Six Apart announced Vox would close permanently at the end of the month, providing export tools to their TypePad blogging platform and to Flickr. New content could be posted to the service until September 15, 2010. Advertising company VideoEgg acquired Six Apart the same month, naming the combined company SAY Media. Vox closed permanently on September 30, 2010 at 3:20 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

In 2013, Say Media sold the Vox.com domain to Vox Media, which would become used for Vox Media's news website Vox, which launched in March 2014.

Vox was a British music magazine, first issued in October 1990. It was published by IPC Media, and was later billed as a monthly sister-magazine to IPC's music weekly, the NME.

Its purpose is to provide a lightweight yet full-featured audio player that can play music in many different file formats and from various sources, including formats not supported by iTunes, such as FLAC and Ogg Vorbis. The new Vox 2.0 release also allows for listening of internet radio, through an in-app purchase. Vox also features Last.fm integration and the ability to define custom keyboard shortcuts to different functions.

Vox (XM)

VOX was a channel on the XM Satellite Radio service that specialized in classical music of the voice. It was available on channel 112 on XM and channel 865 on DirecTV. The program director for VOX was Robert Aubry Davis. XM Radio Canada added the channel to its lineup on April 1, 2007.

The channel was removed as part of XM's merger with Sirius Satellite Radio on November 12, 2008; Sirius did not have a classical vocal station, but Metropolitan Opera Radio was provided as a partial replacement. Robert Aubry Davis moved to the Symphony Hall channel, where he currently hosts a weekly Vox Choral program on Sunday mornings.

Vox (journal)

VOX Journal is a literary journal based in Oxford, Mississippi. It was founded in fall 2004 by poet Louis E. Bourgeois, short story writer and musician Max Bishop Hipp, and poet and self-taught artist J. E. Pitts. As of this writing, it has produced three issues, in April of 2005, 2006, and 2007. VOX describes itself as an independent literary journal, an experimental literary journal, and the “new avant-garde”. The issue, produced in 2007, was the most experimental release yet and included work by "the last Surrealist", Gisele Prassinos, and a variety of prose poems and found poems. The next issue, #4, would concentrate on a variety of themes pertaining to war and its effects.
