Pulsamerica is an online American- British magazine established in 2010 that covers Latin American national and international affairs. Its mission is to bring impartial news analysis and diverse perspectives on Latin America to the English language world. It publishes analytical, academic and op-ed articles. Its readership spans more than 100 countries and various governmental and NGO bodies.
In 2012, the Council on Hemispheric Affairs described Pulsamerica as "unique" and "free from mass media bias and agenda". In 2013, the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs ( UN-SPIDER) and Pulsamerica collaborated on Chinese cooperation of Latin American satellite programs analytical coverage.
In February, 2016, political analyst, journalist and Harvard government/ psychology student Ailana Navarez was appointed Editor-in-Chief and was transferred ownership of Pulsamerica after working as a Venezuela and Uruguay specialist at Pulsamerica and a Latin American business, government, leadership and security analysis for International Policy Digest, Slant Magazine and World Press. Since then, the Pulsamerica platform has undergone significant upgrades, including increased social network outreach, app development, partnerships, website renovation, and a strengthened initiative to seek new writers.
Many Pulsamerica contributors - past and present - have backgrounds in Ivy League universities - including Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Columbia, University College London, Manchester, Edinburgh and King's College London as well as numerous Latin American universities, including the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Santiago and the Federal University of Bahia. They also have on-the-ground professional and personal experience in Latin America. Many also work or have gone onto work with larger organizations, including Reuters, World Press, United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Minority Rights Group International, Haiti Support Group, Club Europe, Winter Olympics, National Research Council in Rome, Kyiv Post, TeleSur, Mercury Magazine of Upsala University, Merial, The Santiago Times, Caprice Magazine, Overseas Developement Institute, Biosource and the University of Cambridge's Centre of Latin American studies.
