Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character is a founding member of the Justice League, demigoddess, and warrior princess of the Amazons, which are based on the Amazons of Greek mythology. In her homeland, she is Princess Diana of Themyscira, and outside of her homeland, she is known by her secret identity Diana Prince.

Wonder Woman was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston with his wife and co-creator Elizabeth Holloway Marston, and first drawn by H. G. Peter. Their cohabitant, Olive Byrne, is credited as being Marston's muse for the iconic characters' physical appearance. The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986. Her depiction as an international diplomatic heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and gender equality has led to Wonder Woman being widely considered a feminist and LGBT icon, and the embodiment of the women's liberation movement.

Wonder Woman's origin story relates that she was sculpted from clay by her mother Queen Hippolyta, and given life along with superhuman powers as gifts by the Greek Gods. However, in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus, and jointly raised by her mother Hippolyta and her aunts Antiope and Menalippe. Her Amazonian-training helped to develop a wide range of extraordinary skills in strategy, hunting and fighting. She possesses an arsenal of advanced technology, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and, in older stories, a range of devices based on Amazon technology. Although Diana is 5,000 years old, her first exposure to non-Amazon society will have only come within the last 100 years. While the Amazons were originally created to protect " man's world," they ultimately abandoned it.

Created during World War II, the character was initially depicted fighting Axis military forces as well as an assortment of colorful supervillains, although over time her stories came to place greater emphasis on characters, deities, and monsters from Greek mythology. In the decades since her debut, Wonder Woman has gained a formidable cast of enemies bent on eliminating the Amazon, including classic villains such as Ares, Hades, Cheetah, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta, along with more recent adversaries such as the First Born. Wonder Woman has also regularly appeared in comic books featuring the superhero teams Justice Society (from 1941) and Justice League (from 1960).

Notable depictions of the character in other media include the 1975–1979 Wonder Woman TV series starring Lynda Carter, as well as animated series such as the Super Friends and Justice League. Since Carter's television series, studios struggled to introduce a new live-action Wonder Woman to audiences, although the character continued to feature in a variety of toys and merchandise, as well as animated adaptations of DC properties, including a direct-to-DVD animated feature. Attempts to return Wonder Woman to television have included a television pilot for NBC in 2011, closely followed by another stalled production for The CW. Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, marking the character's feature film debut after over 70 years of history. Gadot will also star in the character's first solo live-action film Wonder Woman, set to be released on June 2, 2017.

Wonder Woman of Earth-Two is a fictional DC Comics superheroine retconned from original stories by Wonder Woman writer and creator William Moulton Marston and his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston. This version of Wonder Woman first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941). This was after DC Comics established a multiverse in their published stories to explain how heroes could have been active before (and during) World War II and retain their youth and (subsequent) origins during the 1960s.

The Earth-Two Wonder Woman was first featured as a character separate from Wonder Woman (known as Earth-One Wonder Woman) in the second Jay Garrick and Barry Allen comic. Earth-Two Wonder Woman had appeared several months earlier in one comic-book panel.

Like most of the older Earth-Two incarnations of the DC characters, this version of Wonder Woman was semi-retired when she reappeared in later stories (with gray hair and wrinkles in later Justice League stories). She appeared in many later Earth-Two features, including the multigenerational Infinity, Inc. series featuring her daughter Fury.

She (and her version of earth) were eliminated in a company-wide storyline, Crisis on Infinite Earths. After this series she ascended to her world's Mount Olympus with her husband, General Steve Trevor, reaching godhood. Although Diana Trevor was eliminated due to the storyline's outcome, her daughter was not. Fury (Lyta Trevor) was later revealed as the child of Helena Kosmatos, the New Earth World War II Fury. The Earth-Two Diana Trevor reappeared in mainstream DC Earth in Infinite Crisis as an apparition, fading away after speaking to new counterpart Wonder Woman.

Another storyline, 52, was created; in its aftermath, alternate versions of the pre-crisis Earth-Two characters were introduced. Although distinct from their pre-crisis Earth-Two versions, similarities persisted. Post-crisis Earth-Two Wonder Woman was mentioned by her daughter Fury, but appears only in a picture taken before the death of Bruce Wayne and the disappearance of their Superman. Post-crisis Earth-2 Wonder Woman retired from her Earth's Justice Society team, and the comic suggests she is the current Queen of the Amazons; this did not happen to Earth-Two Diana Trevor before she ascended Mount Olympus to become a goddess with her husband.

A parallel character was scheduled to appear in the 2012 series Earth-2. The post-flashpoint Earth-2 Wonder Woman was the sole surviving Amazon of her source Earth, but the fate of the other Amazons of post-flashpoint Earth-2 is unknown.

"Wonder Woman" is the first official single from the Trey Songz album Trey Day. The song was written by Trey Songz along with Danja, who also produced the single. "Wonder Woman" was released in early 2007. The video debuted on BET's Access Granted on April 4, 2007. It was directed by Little X. The Video Features Fershgenet Melaku aka Lola luv and Canadian actor and rapper, and friend of Trey's, Drake makes a cameo in the video (which was made before his rise to fame).

Wonder Woman is a 2009 direct-to-DVD animated superhero film focusing on the superheroine of the same name. The plot of the film is loosely based on George Pérez's reboot of the character, specifically the " Gods and Mortals" arc that started the character's second volume in 1987. It is the fourth in the line of DC Universe Animated Original Movies released by Warner Premiere and Warner Bros. Animation.

The film is directed by Lauren Montgomery, who directed the second act of Superman: Doomsday and did storyboard work for Justice League: The New Frontier, and written by Gail Simone and Michael Jelenic. As with all previous releases in this line of films, it is produced by acclaimed DC Comics animation veteran Bruce Timm.

On August 11, 2015, Warner Home Video re-released the film on a combo pack, which includes a DVD and Blu-Ray copy, a digital copy, and with the graphic novel it was based on.

"Wonder Woman" is a song by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro, featuring R&B singer and rapper Ai as well as rock musician Anna Tsuchiya. The song was the lead promotional single for Amuro's collaboration-compilation album, Checkmate!, released in April 2011.

Namie Amuro had previously collaborated with Ai on the songs "Uh Uh,,,,,," ( Suite Chic, 2003), ""Do What U Gotta Do" feat. Ai, Namie Amuro & Mummy-D ( Zeebra, 2006) and Ai 2010 single " Fake." Ai and Tsuchiya had previously collaborated on Ai's 2007 album Don't Stop Ai with "Butterfly" featuring Anna Tsuchiya, Anty the Kunoichi, Pushim, as well as on Tsuchiya's 2008 single "Crazy World". Amuro and Tsuchiya have not previously collaborated.

The song was the most successful of the four new songs from the album, peaking at number five on the Recording Industry Association of Japan's Digital Track Chart, and being certified gold twice, for downloads to cellphones as well as PC downloads.

Wonder Woman is a 1974 television film loosely based on the DC Comics character of the same name, directed by Vincent McEveety and starring Cathy Lee Crosby. The film was a pilot for an intended television series, being considered by ABC. Ratings were described as "respectable but not exactly wondrous," and ABC did not pick up the pilot. Instead, Warner Brothers and ABC developed a different Wonder Woman television concept that fit within the character of the time, turning away from the 1968-72 era that had influenced the pilot. That was fit within the restoration of the character created by William Moulton Marston, which premiered as a TV movie in 1975 and starred Lynda Carter. Crosby would later claim that she was offered the chance to reprise the role in that series.

It is intended to be the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins, written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, from a story by Heinberg and Zack Snyder, and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Lisa Loven Kongsli and David Thewlis. In Wonder Woman, after American pilot Steve Trevor crashes on the island of Themyscira and tells her about a world war that is happening, Diana leaves her home to try to stop the war and becomes Wonder Woman.

Principal photography began in late November 2015 and wrapped in May 2016. Wonder Woman is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017, in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
