Robin Hood

Robin Hood is a heroic outlaw in English folklore who, according to legend, was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. Traditionally depicted as being dressed in Lincoln green, he is often portrayed as "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" alongside his band of Merry Men. Robin Hood became a popular folk figure in the late- medieval period, and continues to be widely represented in literature, films and television.

Robin Hood (1973 film)

Robin Hood is a 1973 American animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions which was first released in the United States on November 8, 1973.

The 21st Disney animated feature film, it is based on the legend of Robin Hood, but uses anthropomorphic animals rather than people. The story follows the adventures of Robin Hood, Little John and the inhabitants of Nottingham as they fight against the excessive taxation of Prince John, and Robin Hood wins the hand of Maid Marian.

Robin Hood (1922 film)

Robin Hood, starring Douglas Fairbanks and Wallace Beery, is the first motion picture ever to have a Hollywood premiere, held at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre on October 18, 1922. The movie's full title, under which it was copyrighted, is Douglas Fairbanks in Robin Hood, as shown in the illustration at right. It was one of the most expensive films of the 1920s, with a budget estimated at approximately one million dollars. The film was a smash hit and generally received favorable reviews.

Robin Hood (bicycles)

Robin Hood Cycle Co Ltd bicycles is an English manufacturer made in Nottingham England. Acquired by the Raleigh Bicycle Company in 1906 many of whose bicycles were imported into the United States. Best known for their three-speeds, they were an economy line for Raleigh. They also imported racing bikes as the Lenton Sports.

Robin Hood (2006 TV series)

Robin Hood is a British television programme, produced by independent production company Tiger Aspect Productions for BBC One, with co-funding from the BBC America cable television channel in the United States. Based on the traditional stories of legendary English folk hero Robin Hood, the programme started on 7 October 2006. Series two commenced broadcasting on 6 October 2007 with the final two episodes on 29 December 2007. Series three began airing on 28 March 2009 for a thirteen episode run. The series was cancelled by the BBC after series three following the departure of multiple characters, including lead actor Jonas Armstrong.

Although originally intended for a theatrical release in the United States and South America, the film was premiered on the Fox network in those territories a month before the release of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It was released in cinemas in several countries in Europe and elsewhere, including Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Robin Hood (train)

The Robin Hood is one of the four flagship named passenger trains operated by East Midlands Trains inherited from Midland Mainline in the UK. There are two trains named the "Robin Hood": the 0750 train from Nottingham to London, St. Pancras on weekday mornings, and the 1615 train from London, St. Pancras to Nottingham on weekday evenings. Neither train runs on weekends. The outward train is timetabled to be operated by an East Midlands Trains 7-car Class 222 Meridian train and the return train by an InterCity 125 HST. The trains run on the Midland Main Line.

Prior to the timetable change on 14 December 2008 the Robin Hood was operated by a 7-car Class 222 Meridian on both the outward and return trip.

Robin Hood (ballet)

Robin Hood is a ballet created by choreographer and artistic director Paul Vasterling for the Nashville Ballet in 1998. The full-length ballet is in two acts and contains the music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Although Korngold wrote music to the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robin Hood, no music from the film is used in the ballet. Korngold’s early chamber music is used, as well as his Theme and Variations and movements from both his Symphony and Violin Concerto. The suite Much Ado About Nothing is used extensively in both acts and concludes the ballet.

Robin Hood is a six-episode television series written by Max Kester, and produced and directed by Joy Harington for the BBC. The 30 minute episodes were transmitted live, and only the studio material from the second exists (as a 16mm telerecording). Short clips of this material appeared in 2007 documentary, presented by Jonathan Ross, covering Robin Hood from its beginnings to the more recent BBC production (2006), and were also shown as an example of television production in the BBC documentary series Children's T.V. On Trial The 1950s.

Robin Hood (album)

Robin Hood is a CD containing the incidental music soundtrack to the BBC television series Robin Hood. Composed by Andy Price, the music is performed by the Danubia Symphony Orchestra and was performed at the Budapest Opera House, production of the series having been based near Budapest. The CD was released mid-way through the programme's first series in November 2006.

Robin Hood (2010 film)

Robin Hood is a 2010 British-American epic historical war film based on the Robin Hood legend, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Oscar Isaac, William Hurt, and Max von Sydow. It was released in 12 countries on 12 May 2010, including the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, and was also the opening film at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival the same day. It was released in a further 23 countries the following day, among them Australia, and an additional 17 countries on 14 May 2010, among them the United States and Canada.

Robin Hood (1912 film)

Robin Hood is a 1912 film made by Eclair Studios when it and many other early film studios in America's first motion picture industry were based in Fort Lee, New Jersey at the beginning of the 20th century. The movie's costumes feature enormous versions of the familiar hats of Robin and his merry men, and uses the unusual effect of momentarily superimposing images different animals over each character to emphasize their good or evil qualities. The film was directed by Étienne Arnaud and Herbert Blaché, and written by Eustace Hale Ball. A restored copy of the 30-minute film exists and was exhibited in 2006 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Robin Hood is a ballad opera by Michael Tippett based on the legend of Robin Hood. Composed in 1934, the score remains unpublished. However, Tippett later used an expanded version of the overture as the finale to his 1948 Suite in D major (For the Birthday of Prince Charles).

Robin Hood is a comic opera by Reginald De Koven (music), Harry B. Smith (lyrics) and Clement Scott (lyrics of " Oh Promise Me"). The story is based on the Robin Hood legend, during the reign of King Richard I (1189-1199 AD). The opera was composed in Chicago, Illinois during the winter of 1888-1889.

The opera was first performed at the Chicago Opera House on 9 June 1890. It was produced by the Boston Ideal Opera Company, also known as the Bostonians. The opera opened in New York at the Standard Theatre on September 22, 1891 and was produced in London at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1891 with a new title, Maid Marian. It was revived at the Knickerbocker Theater on Broadway on April 30, 1900. Other Broadway revivals were in 1902 at the Academy of Music, in 1912 at New Amsterdam Theatre, in 1918 at the Park Theatre, in 1929 at the Casino Theatre and Jolson's 59th Street Theatre, in 1932 at Erlanger's Theatre, and in 1944 at the Adelphi Theatre.

In 2004 Ohio Light Opera produced the opera based on a new critical edition of the opera that it commissioned from Quade Winter, based on the composer's original manuscripts in the Library of Congress. A complete CD recording was issued by Albany Records.

Robin Hood is a fictional character, a comic book Outlaw published by DC Comics. Robin Hood debuted in New Adventure Comics vol. 1 #23 (January 1938), and was created by Sven Elven. The character is based on the legendary archer Robin Hood whose earliest recorded literary appearance was in William Langland's 14th century narrative poem, Piers Plowman. The character of Robin Hood was made popular by Howard Pyle's 19th century novel The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood.

Hood was born in Mishawaka, Indiana. She played college golf at Oklahoma State University where she was a three-time All-American (1984, 1986, 1987).

Robin of Loxley, later known as Robin Hood, is a fictional character in ABC's television series Once Upon a Time. He is portrayed by British actor/singer Sean Maguire, who became a series regular in the fifth season after making recurring appearances in the third and fourth season. He is the second actor to play the role in the series, as it was first played by Tom Ellis in the second season, but scheduling conflicts prevented Ellis from reprising the role, resulting in Maguire taking the role afterwards.
