Hyper (Hybrid Web Application)

Hyper is a web application hybrid by the German software developer of that name, and is composed of Instagram and Reddit. It was released in mid 2015 as a free iPhone application download. The aspects of social media that are widely popular, such as user collaboration, and some form of audience voting are not lost in this application. Additionally, components of other social media sites, such as use of the Twitter hashtag to tweet with direct intent, add to the familiarity of Hyper, and the likelihood for the reason users uploaded well over 50,000 photos and viewed them under a million times in the application’s beta phase. Hyper is delineated from its social media counterparts as it has taken active counter measures against cyber harassment, such as directing intended users to specific content and allowing anonymous use of the site—user names are not linked to profiles with personal information. As opposed to single image posting applications, multiple photographs can be posted at once by end users. The application also pulls from other photo databases across the web (by search), for user contributions. Hyper allows for specified posting of photos—with the option to direct the content to Twitter, where like minded users can share immediately in the photo experience with you and assess and comment on your photos. Users vote up or down on image content posted by other users, and collect points as a result. These votes are what determine the place of the post in that particular hashtag feed. The application has grown in the year of its release, as has its relationship with Apple. Hyper’s focus on electing video of strong quality to stream for Apple TV. In conjunction with GE, Hyper content will be brought to the new Apple video streaming capability family.
