Fire Island is the large center island of the outer barrier islands parallel to the south shore of Long Island, New York. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy once again divided Fire Island into two islands. Together, these two islands are approximately long and vary between wide. Fire Island is part of Suffolk County. It lies within the towns of Babylon, Islip, and Brookhaven, containing two villages and a number of hamlets. All parts of the island not within village limits are part of the Fire Island census-designated place (CDP), which had a permanent population of 292 at the 2010 census, though that expands to thousands of residents and tourists during the summer months.

Fire Island is the name of an English house music duo, made up of producers and remixers Pete Heller and Terry Farley. Both are prolific musicians who have an extensive list of remixes to their credit, using the Fire Island moniker and also being billed as Heller & Farley Project, Stylus Trouble or Farley & Heller.
As Fire Island they hit number one on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1998 with " Shout to the Top", a song originally recorded by The Style Council in 1985. It also peaked at number 23 in the UK Singles Chart. Lead vocals on the track were provided by Loleatta Holloway. They also had a top twenty single on both charts in 1992 with "In Your Bones."
The group collaborated with pop artist Michael Jackson for the song "Money", which appeared on his internationally best-selling album Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix, as well as providing a remix for the title song.
Fire Island is a long island in the U.S. state of Alaska, located near the head of Cook Inlet at . It is the only island in the Municipality of Anchorage, sitting three miles (5 km) off the city's Point Campbell, and nine miles (14.5 km) from downtown. Its land area is 17.467 km (6.7439 sq mi, or 4,316.1 acres), and there was no permanent resident population at the 2000 census.
Fire Island is located in the eastern Aleutian Islands at . It emerged in 1883, forming a companion island to Bogoslof Island. Originally, this Fire Island was named New Bogoslof (also Grewingk, after an Alaskan geologist). In 1909, President Theodore Roosevelt made Bogoslof and New Bogoslof a federally protected bird sanctuary. Both islands are currently part of the Bogoslof Wilderness in the Aleutian Islands unit of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.
