Darna

Darna is a fictional character and Filipino comics superheroine, similar to the American superhero Wonder Woman. It was created by writer Mars Ravelo and artist Nestor Redondo. In her more popular incarnations, she is a deceased warrior from another planet manifesting herself through a girl from Earth, named Narda. She first appeared in Pilipino Komiks (Ace Publications, Inc.) #77 (May 13, 1950). A cultural icon in the Philippines, Darna is considered to be the most celebrated character in Philippine comicdom.

Darna is a retooling of Ravelo's earlier character, Varga, whose stories he wrote and illustrated himself. She first appeared in Bulaklak Magazine, Volume 4, #17 (July 23, 1947). Ravelo left Bulaklak due to differences with the publication's editors.

Darna is the first film featuring the Filipino comics character Darna. The film was released on May 31, 1951 by Royal Films. It was directed by Fernando Poe, Sr. and was written by Mars Ravelo, the creator of Darna.

Darna (2005 TV series)

Darna is a 2005 drama fantasy action television series based on the Mars Ravelo's fictional character of the same name and a loose adaptation of the 2003 Mars Ravelo's Darna Miniseries by Mango Comics. It aired on GMA Network and starred top actress Angel Locsin as the iconic superheroine.

It premiered in Filipino homes on April 4, 2005, and ended on November 25, 2005.

The official title of the series is Mars Ravelo's Darna.

Darna (2009 TV series)

Darna is a Philippine drama/ fantasy series adapted from Mars Ravelo's fictional superheroine of the same name; directed by Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez and developed by Jun Lana. It is the third series based on the Darna graphic novels by Mars Ravelo. It stars Marian Rivera as the title role and her alter-ego Narda, with Iwa Moto as her main nemesis Valentina, and Mark Anthony Fernandez as Eduardo.

The series had premiered on August 10, 2009 on GMA Network and ended on February 19, 2010, and also featured the return of the other four villains originally created by Ravelo himself. The first season consists of 70 episodes, as well as the second season, with episodes all in all.

The film will be produced by ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. and Reality Entertainment and would mark the return of Ravelo's comic superheroes to cinemas.

The film has been rumored to be released on 2017.
