Žatec

Žatec (; ) is a historic town in Louny District, Ústí nad Labem Region, in the Czech Republic.

It is famous for an over-700-year-long tradition of growing Saaz noble hops used by several breweries. Žatec produces its own beer and hosts 'Dočesná', its (hops related) harvest festival every year on the town square.

Žatec is a village and municipality ( obec) in Jihlava District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 107 (as at 3 July 2006).

Žatec lies approximately south of Jihlava and south-east of Prague.
