What is "yuraqqucha"

Yuraqqucha ( Quechua yuraq white, qucha lake, "white lake", hispanicized spelling Yurajcocha), Tintayari or Wampuni ( Aymara wampu boat, -ni, a suffix, "the one with a boat", hispanicized Huampuni) is a lake in Peru located in the Junín Region, Huancayo Province, Chongos Alto District. It is situated at a height of approximately , about 5 km long and 0.84 km at its widest point. Yuraqqucha lies north of Aqchiqucha and northeast of Wich'iqucha. The lake belongs to the watershed of the Mantaro River.

In 1999 the Yuraqqucha dam was built at the northern end of the lake at . The dam is high. It is operated by Electroperu.
