WTSO

WTSO is a sports radio station in Madison, Wisconsin owned and operated by iHeartMedia, Inc.. The station broadcasts at 1070 AM ( kHz), and has also simulcast since Summer 2014 on FM translator W265CV (100.9 MHz).

The station was originally known as WKOW (the call sign changed to WTSO in the mid-1970s), and previously featured country music, talk radio, and adult standards formats before going all-sports in 2000, featuring programming from ESPN Radio (as "Madison's ESPN Radio 10-7-0"). On January 1, 2009, WTSO parted company with ESPN Radio and rebranded as "The Big 1070, Madison's Sports Station."

The current "Big 1070" schedule places an emphasis on local content, including "Lucas & Dawson" (6-8AM), hosted by Phil Dawson and longtime Wisconsin Badgers radio analyst and Madison sports columnist/reporter Mike Lucas, and "The Mike Heller Show" (2-6PM). WTSO's schedule also features national programming, including the syndicated Dan Patrick and Jay Mohr shows and content from NBC Sports Radio and Fox Sports Radio. Since the start of 2013, much of the station's schedule has been simulcast on Milwaukee sister station WOKY (920), an unusual situation where a station in a smaller market provides the simulcast for the larger market station.

WTSO's live sports coverage includes broadcasts of Milwaukee Bucks basketball and NASCAR events from MRN Radio and PRN Radio, as well as local high school events, including championships in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. WTSO also airs live broadcasts of Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Wisconsin Badgers athletics should those events conflict with the schedule of their normal home, sister station WIBA-AM.
