What is "verdun"

Verdun (; ; medieval , official name before 1970 Verdun-sur-Meuse) is a small city in the Meuse department in Lorraine in north-eastern France. It is a sub-prefecture ( arrondissement) of the department.

Verdun is the biggest city in Meuse, although the capital of the department is the slightly smaller city of Bar-le-Duc.

In the 1935 Canadian federal election, Hervé Ferland, who listed his profession as ‘merchant’, unsuccessfully sought election in Verdun riding in Quebec as the Verdun candidate. He won 4,124 votes, 16.8% of the popular vote, placing third in a field of 11 candidates, behind the Conservative Party and Co-operative Commonwealth Federation candidates.

Verdun is a station on the Green Line of the Montreal Metro rapid transit system operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM). It is located in the borough of Verdun in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The station opened on September 3, 1978, as part of the extension of the Green Line westward to Angrignon.

Verdun (also known as Verdun—Saint-Paul, Verdun—Saint-Henri and Verdun—Saint-Henri—Saint-Paul—Pointe-Saint-Charles) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1935 to 1949 and from 1953 to 2004.

Verdun—La Salle riding, which covered much of the same area, was represented in the House of Commons from 1949 to 1953.

Verdun is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Its territory corresponds exactly to the borough of Verdun of the city of Montreal.

It was created for the 1966 election from Montréal-Verdun electoral district.

In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged.

Verdun is a squad-based multiplayer first-person shooter video game set during the First World War. It was released on 28 April 2015 on the Steam computer game platform, after more than a year in Steam Early Access. Recently the developers M2H and Blackmill Games announced to also launch Verdun on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Verdun is inspired by the infamous 1916 Battle of Verdun in France from which it takes its name. The game includes historically accurate WW1 weapons, authentic uniforms and equipment, detailed injury and gore modeling, and maps based on the real battlefields of the Western Front.

The game runs on the Unity engine and was created by independent studios M2H and Blackmill Games.
