Ukactive

ukactive, formerly known as the Fitness Industry Association, was created in 1991 and renamed in November 2012. It is a not for profit membership organisation with more than 3500 organisations in membership.

Tanni Grey-Thompson is the chair of the board of which Carol M. Black is a member. Andrew Lansley is an adviser. Coca-Cola is one of its sponsors.

David Stalker was formerly chief executive, but is now running Oxygen Freejumping.

It produced a report Turning the Tide of Inactivity in 2014 which, according to Grey-Thompson, for the first time exposed the full extent of inactivity in the UK. In 2015 it produced another report, Blueprint For An Active Britain, which was supported by Lord Ara Darzi, the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Royal Society for Public Health, the Nuffield Trust, Mind and Age UK which said that more needs to be done to embed exercise in people's everyday lives.

The organisation is actively involved with local authorities in the United Kingdom in developing plans to increase physical activity.

It awards annual Flame Awards for, among other categories, Supplier of the Year and Workplace Wellbeing.
