Train of Thought (Dream Theater album)

Train of Thought is the seventh studio album by progressive band Dream Theater, released on November 11, 2003 through Elektra Records.

Inspired by the audience response to Dream Theater's heavier songs while on tour, in the "Chaos in Progress" documentary, Portnoy says that they wanted Train of Thought to be a "balls to the wall" album with heavier, darker riffing, exposing them to a number of new metal fans. The album was written in three weeks. It was engineered by Doug Oberkircher and mixed by Kevin Shirley. Most of the album was played in concert for the Live at Budokan DVD. All songs from it have been played live to date.

Train of thought

The train of thought or track of thought refers to the interconnection in the sequence of ideas expressed during a connected discourse or thought, as well as the sequence itself, especially in discussion how this sequence leads from one idea to another.

When a reader or listener "loses the train of thought" (i.e., loses the relation between consecutive sentences or phrases, or the relation between non-verbal concepts in an argument or presentation), comprehension is lost of the expressed or unexpressed thought.

The term "train of thoughts" was introduced and elaborated as early as in 1651 by Thomas Hobbes in his Leviathan, though with a somewhat different meaning (similar to the meaning used by the British associationists):

Train of Thought (Reflection Eternal album)

Train of Thought is the debut album of American hip hop duo Reflection Eternal, released October 17, 2000 on Rawkus Records. Collaborating as a duo, rapper Talib Kweli and DJ and hip hop producer Hi-Tek recorded the album during 1999 to 2000, following their individual musical work that gained notice in New York's underground scene during the late 1990s. Kweli had previously worked with rapper Mos Def as the duo Black Star, and Hi-Tek had served as producer on the duo's debut album.

Produced primarily by Hi-Tek, the album is characterized by dynamic, high-tempo tracks and a Soulquarians-type neo soul sound. It showcases Kweli's rapping and features themes of revolutionary mentality, love, the state of hip hop, and modern African-American culture. Upon its release, Train of Thought achieved moderate sales success and received critical acclaim from music critics. Train of Thought is now considered a classic album, and one of Kweli's best works.

Train of Thought (Cher song)

"Train Of Thought" is the second single released by an American singer/actress Cher from her 1974 album Dark Lady. It reached number #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Allmusic retrospectively described this song as "raw and fast-moving rock." Gene Pitney covered the song in 1976, but it didn't chart anywhere.

Train of Thought (A-ha song)

"Train of Thought" is a song by Norwegian band a-ha. It was released as the fourth single from the Hunting High and Low album. The lyrics for this song were based on the existentialist authors and poets Gunvor Hofmo, Knut Hamsun and Fyodor Dostoevsky - Pål's favourites at the time.

It was a-ha's third consecutive top ten single in the UK, reaching No. 8. It was not a pop hit in the United States, but a 12" single featuring a remix of the song appeared on the Hot Dance Club Play charts. The single sold 500,000 copies worldwide. Another remix by Steve Thompson was released in 1986.
