What is "soorikaayi"

Soorikaayi or Kannada, Tulu is a black coloured fruit (seed) found in the forest areas of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, India.

The fruit is green in colour and once ripened, it turns black and is sweet in taste. The plant itself is full of tiny thorns and is often used to cover the boundaries of areca plantations.
