Schatz
The term Schatz can refer to:
- An ornamental or occupational German surname meaning "treasure" or "treasury" (as a town treasurer)
- A term of endearment in German-speaking countries, comparable to "honey" or "darling" in English
- Two-year debt issued by the German Federal Government, in full ‘Bundesschatzanweisungen’, in German abbreviated to Schätze, and in English to Schatz.
- The futures contract listed on Eurex with this two-year debt as the underlying.
- A Hebrew term or surname meaning "the one sent by the community" (from the acronym for "shaliach tzibbur"), used to describe the member of the community leading prayers. The term can be used either for a regular lay member of the community leading prayers at the moment or for the " cantor" leading prayers on a regular basis.
