Saxa (musician)

Saxa (born Lionel Augustus Martin January 5, 1930) is a saxophonist famous for having performed with the British ska band The Beat. He has also played with many early ska and reggae stars such as Laurel Aitken, Prince Buster, and Desmond Dekker.

He was born in Croft's Hill, Jamaica.

From 1990 to 1995, Saxa played in The International Beat with musicians Tony Beet, Everett Morton and Mickey Billingham.

He is now retired and lives in Birmingham.

Saxa (food product)

Saxa is a brand of salt and pepper in the United Kingdom and Australia. Formerly a brand of Rank Hovis McDougall it became property of Premier Foods in 2007. As a result of the change, production of Saxa salt was moved from Middlewich in Cheshire a traditional centre of the British salt industry, to factories at Worksop and Ashford, Kent.

Saxa has been described by The Independent as one of "Britain's best-known food brands." and in the Journal of Consumer Marketing, Mats Urde lists it alongside Bisto and Hovis.
