Wikipedia
Ricochet

A ricochet is a rebound, bounce or skip off a surface, particularly in the case of a projectile. Most ricochets are caused by accident and while the force of the deflection decelerates the projectile: it can still be energetic and almost as dangerous as before the deflection. The possibility of ricochet is one of the reasons for the common firearms safety rule "Never shoot at a flat, hard surface."

Ricochet (Teresa Brewer song)

"Ricochet" (sometimes rendered "Rick-o-Shay" and also as "Ricochet Romance") is a popular song. The credits show it to be written by Larry Coleman, Joe Darion, and Norman Gimbel, without apportioning the work on the lyrics and music, in 1953. In fact, since Coleman and Darion wrote " Changing Partners" the same year, with Darion as lyricist and Coleman as composer, while Gimbel wrote the English lyric for " Sway" the same year, it can be concluded that Coleman wrote the music and Darion and Gimbel the lyrics.

Ricochet (Tangerine Dream album)

Ricochet is the first live album and seventh album overall by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream. The album was released in 1975. It consists of two long compositions mixed from taped recordings of the UK and France portions of their August–October 1975 European Tour. The sound of the album is similar to the group's other " Virgin Years" releases, relying heavily on synthesizers and sequencers to produce a dense ambient soundscape, but is much more energetic than anything they had released previously. Ricochet utilizes more percussion and electronic guitar than its predecessors, Phaedra and Rubycon, bordering on electronic rock. The principal innovation on the album is its use of complex multi-layered rhythms, foreshadowing not only the band's own direction in the 1980s, but also trance music and similar genres of electronic dance music.

Much of the raw material for Ricochet, in particular part 2, was recorded at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, London, during Tangerine Dream's live performance there on 23 October 1975. The original, unedited version of this performance can be heard in set 3 of The Bootleg Box Set Vol. 1. No other source concerts have so far been identified. The piano solo at the beginning of "Ricochet, Part Two" was recorded at the Manor Studio.

After the Top 20 placings for Phaedra and Rubycon, Ricochet fared less well in sales terms, spending just four weeks on the UK album chart (all editions of the now defunct British Hit Albums erroneously state only two), reaching number 40.

In the original release of Ricochet, the sound of two hands clapping can be heard at the beginning of the second track. This was actually the very last tiny bit of applause decay before the music started-probably left in as a then adequate buffer before the start of the piece, on the LP lead-in groove. V-2044. This sound has been edited out in some of the re-released versions of the album, notably Virgin's 1995 "Definitive Edition" CD release, presumably being regarded as noise.

Ricochet (video game)

Ricochet is an arcade adventure game, originally written for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron home computers, published by Superior Software in 1989. It was written by Neil Davidson and David Williams, with some graphics work and level design by Nik Weston and Guy Burt. It was released in an updated form for Microsoft Windows in 2005 by Superior Interactive.

The object of the game is to retrieve five hourglasses from diverse scenarios to restore the flow of time. It features elements of both platform and puzzle games. The puzzles are mostly logical (keys unlock doors, gold placates a burglar), though there are exceptions.

While the game shares many elements made popular in earlier Superior arcade adventures such as Citadel, it has a unique feel due to the movement of the main character. The player controls a creature named "SPRAT" (Small Partially Robotic Alien Time-traveller), depicted as a red sphere wearing sunglasses. SPRAT moves by rolling but can only do so along level ground or down slopes. There are ladders to climb but many platforms require a special movement to be reached. By holding 'down' (SPRAT squashes himself) to build up potential energy, then releasing, SPRAT can bounce at either a 45 or 90 degree angle.

Ricochet is one of a range of 1980s Superior games that have been recently remade and re-released for PCs by Superior Interactive in an updated form, with new graphics and added levels.

Ricochet (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album)

Ricochet is the second album, by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and their second album release of 1967, being released only four or five months after their first album, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which was released in February or March, 1967. It appears that this album may have been released rather quickly after their first album because that album had been only the second Liberty Records release of 1967 to actually make the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, the first being Gary Lewis & the Playboys You Don't Have To Paint Me A Picture LP, which charted in February. Unfortunately, "Ricochet" would fail to make the charts. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (aka The Dirt Band) is notable for having many additional charting albums and singles.
