One in a Million (Aaliyah album)

One in a Million is the second studio album by American R&B recording artist Aaliyah, first released on August 27, 1996 by Blackground Records and Atlantic Records. The album was recorded from August 1995 to July 1996 with a variety of producers including Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Carl-So-Lowe, J. Dibbs, Jermaine Dupri, Kay Gee, Vincent Herbert, Rodney Jerkins, Craig King, Darren Lighty, and Darryl Simmons. The album featured several guest vocalists, including Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Treach, Slick Rick, and Tank.

One in a Million was well received by most critics, including Rolling Stone, who named it the 90th best album of the 1990s. It was also listed as one of 33 hip hop/R&B albums in Rolling Stones "Essential Recordings of the '90s". One in a Million debuted at twenty on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 40,500 copies in its opening week; twenty-two weeks later the album peaked at eighteen, being certified Gold by RIAA. Within a few months, the album proved Aaliyah's breakthrough and a major milestone in the careers of Missy Elliott and Timbaland. It was certified double Platinum on June 16, 1997. The album was also certified Gold by the Canadian recording industry for shipments of 50,000 copies. One in a Million has sold over three million copies in the United States and 8 million copies worldwide.

The album produced six singles, "If Your Girl Only Knew", "One in a Million", "Got to Give It Up", "4 Page Letter", "Hot Like Fire", and "The One I Gave My Heart To", with the last becoming the album's highest-charting single, peaking at nine on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2004, the album was re-released in Germany with altered artwork, and again in 2006. The disc is copy-protected, and therefore will not show up when placed in some PCs, but it will show up when inserted into a Mac, and it will play in most CD players. It included the standard 17 tracks, plus the bonus song "Come Over".

"One in a Million" is a song by American rock band Guns N' Roses. It is the eighth track on the album G N' R Lies and was released in 1988. The lyrics describe GN'R singer Axl Rose's experience of getting hustled in the Greyhound bus station upon first arriving in Los Angeles. The song is notable not only for its controversy, but also for being one of the first Guns N' Roses songs that Axl Rose wrote solo. According to interviews, Rose wrote "One In A Million" on guitar (with which he was not proficient at the time), using only the bottom two strings. This differs from other Rose-written Guns N' Roses songs, which Rose composed on piano or keyboards. This is the first Guns N' Roses song to feature piano, played by Axl on the outro.

One in a Million (Malaysian TV series)

One in a Million (often abbreviated OIAM) is a Malaysian reality-competition show. It is the first reality singing competition to offer a RM 1 million prize to the winner. The show began airing on 8TV, a terrestrial television station in Malaysia, on 26 May 2006.

One in a Million seeks to discover the best young singer in the country through several auditions held nationwide. The objective of awarding a large amount of prize money is to provide the winner with quality production and marketing resources. In the later stages of the competition the progress of the contestants is determined by public voting by phone or text messaging. This is also the first reality singing competition that allows viewers to vote in as well as vote out the contestants.

The show features two judges who critique the contestants' performances to facilitate the voting: former singer and music lecturer Syafinaz Selamat and brand manager for 8TV, Paul Moss. The show is hosted by Awal Ashaari and Marion Caunter.

In the episode "Song Sung Bad", Lilly asks Miley to sing the song for her mom's birthday present because it is her favorite Hannah song. Miley decides to have Lilly sing it herself because her mother would appreciate that more.

The song has also been covered by Japanese pop-rock singer Anna Tsuchiya, who changed the lyrics to keep only the music from the original song. The song in question is called "BLUE MOON" and is present on the track list of her 2006 single " SLAP THAT NAUGHTY BODY/My Fate".

One in a Million is Malaysia's first ever reality singing competition to offer a RM 1 million prize to the winner. The second season began on 16 November 2007, resuming to its former timeslot at 9.30pm on 8TV. The season had been marred by a restriction imposed on 8TV against airing live telecasts, as a result of season one's runner-up Faizal Tahir breaching the decency code during 8TV's birthday concert on mid-January 2008. Nevertheless, the show went on and on 29 February 2008, in a Grand Finale which was aired delayed by 30 minutes from Shah Alam, Sabahan Norayu Damit became the overall champion and new owner of RM1,000,000 as funding for a musical career.

One in a Million (U.S. TV series)

One In A Million is an American television sitcom that aired on ABC for one season in 1980. The show was developed as a starring vehicle for comedian Shirley Hemphill after the success of What's Happening!! (1976–79) in which she played a supporting role. The show was not a success and was cancelled after just 13 episodes. The series was broadcast on Saturdays at 8 p.m Eastern time.

The series centers around Shirley Simmons (Hemphill), a sharp-tongued taxicab driver who inherits controlling interest in the multimillion dollar conglomerate Grayson Enterprises at the death of its founder, Jonathan Grayson, one of Shirley's regular fares. Gleefully assuming her position as CEO, she declares war on 'pompous stuffed shirts', especially company vice president Roland Cushing ( Keene Curtis). She finds an ally in Nancy ( Dorothy Fielding), Grayson's secretary. The series was set in New York City.

The cast included several well-known character actors including Richard Paul as Mr. Grayson's nephew and Carl Ballantine as the owner of Shirley's favorite deli.
