Musa \Mu"sa\, prop. n.; pl. Mus[ae]. [NL., fr. Ar. mauz, mauza, banana.] (Bot.) A genus of perennial, herbaceous, endogenous plants of great size, including the banana ( Musa sapientum), the plantain ( Musa paradisiaca of Linn[ae]us, but probably not a distinct species), the Abyssinian ( Musa Ensete), the Philippine Island ( Musa textilis, which yields Manila hemp), and about eighteen other species. Musa (film)

Musa (; lit. "Warrior"), released as both The Warrior and The Ultimate Warrior in English-speaking countries, is a 2001 South Korean epic film directed by Kim Sung-su, starring Jung Woo-sung, Ahn Sung-ki, Joo Jin-mo and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi. The semi-historical story follows the adventures of a Korean peace delegation as they try to get back to Korea through the inhospitable deserts of northern China.

The film is regarded as being one of the biggest motion pictures in the history of South Korean cinema. At the time of its production its budget was the largest ever for a Korean film. It features a high degree of historical accuracy in period costumery, props, settings, and most unusually, language; that is, everyone speaks in their native tongues or through an interpreter conversant in a lingua franca. The film was the 8th highest grossing film of 2001 with over two million tickets sold.

Musa (Ilkhanid dynasty)

Musa Khan was an Ilkhan from 1336 to 1337 and a grandson of Baydu.

He was installed to the throne of the Ilkhanate by the governor of Baghdad, 'Ali Padsah, on April 12, two days after the latter had defeated Arpa Ke'un in battle. Musa was meant to be a puppet to 'Ali. However, Musa was challenged by the Jalayirid Hasan Buzurg. 'Ali was killed, and Musa was forced to flee after being defeated at Qara Darra on July 24, 1336.

Musa (crater)

Musa is a crater in the northern hemisphere of Saturn's moon Enceladus. Musa was first seen in Voyager 2 images. It is located at 72.4° North Latitude, 17.6° West Longitude and is 25 kilometers across. Musa is located North of Aladdin. A large, dome-like structure occupies the interior of the crater, suggesting the crater has undergone significant viscous relaxation. From Voyager 2 images, it also appears that Musa is superimposed on an older crater that formed just to the south.

Musa is named after a character from Arabian Nights. He goes to get the vessels that contain Jinni in " The City of Brass".

Musa (genus)

Musa is one of two or three genera in the family Musaceae; it includes bananas and plantains. Around 70 species of Musa are known, with a broad variety of uses.

Though they grow as high as trees, banana and plantain plants are not woody and their apparent " stem" is made up of the bases of the huge leaf stalks. Thus, they are technically gigantic herbs.

Musa species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species, including the giant leopard moth and other Hypercompe species, including H. albescens (only recorded on Musa), H. eridanus, and H. icasia.

Musa ( English: Muse) is the eighth studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón singer-songwriter Ivy Queen. It was released through Siente Music on August 21, 2012 in all formats. The tracks on the album were composed by Queen and various other songwriters, including: Victor Delgado, Hiram Cruz and Francisco Saldaña. The album was produced by Luny Tunes, Noriega, Predikador, and DJ Nelson among others. The album features a variety of musical styles prominent on her previous albums Sentimiento (2007) and Drama Queen (2010).

The recording produced three singles. " Peligro De Extinción" was released as the lead single on June 19, 2012. It peaked at number 18, 21, and 84 on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay, Billboard Latin Rhythm Digital Songs, and Billboard Tropical Songs charts respectively. Musa debuted and peaked at number fifteen on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and number four on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums chart. It was followed by " Cupido", "Cuando Las Mujeres" and later " No Hay".

Upon its release, the album remained within the five best-selling albums of the urban genre, in the United States and Puerto Rico, according to SoundScan monitoring services of the recognized measurement firm Nielsen. The album was included at number six on Rhapsody's Top 15 Latin Albums of Late Summer 2012 and number nine on Rhapsody's Top 30 Latin Albums of 2012.
