The arrangement of, or mode of expressing, the terms of a contract or conveyance.
(Law) A qualification involving the idea of variation or departure from some general rule or form, in the way of either restriction or enlargement, according to the circumstances of the case, as in the will of a donor, an agreement between parties, and the like.

In medieval music theory, the Latin term modus (meaning "a measure", "standard of measurement", "quantity", "size", "length", or, rendered in English, mode) can be used in a variety of distinct senses. The most commonly used meaning today relates to the organisation of pitch in scales. Other meanings refer to the notation of rhythms.
Modus was a popular Czechoslovak band, originally established in 1967 by Stanislav Hrda, Ján Baláž, Peter Krutek, Juraj Czinege, T. Psota, Ľubomír Stankovský, Gabriel Wertlen and Miroslav Žbirka. The formation (identified nowadays as Modus 0) initially played cover versions of the 60's hits. A major change followed after the arrival of Ján Lehotský who joined the ensemble in 1972, and became their leader. The years 1976-80, which included albums Modus (1979) and Balíček snov (1980), referred to as Modusmania, denoted the band's stardom era.
