Mistaken Identity (Kim Carnes album)

Mistaken Identity is the sixth studio album by Kim Carnes released in the spring of 1981. It was one of 1981's biggest albums and produced Billboards #1 song for the entire year, "Bette Davis Eyes". It was nominated for the Album Of The Year Grammy Award.

The album spent four weeks at #1 on Billboard magazine's Top Albums chart, and was subsequently certified Platinum. The album spawned three singles, " Bette Davis Eyes", " Draw of the Cards" and the title track, which peaked at #1, #28 and #60 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, respectively.

The Mistaken Identity Tour found Carnes at the peak of success, selling out arenas and large venues.

Goodrem co-wrote some of the album with Guy Chambers, who also produced the album with Richard Flack and Steve Power. Mistaken Identity debuted at number-one on the Australian Albums Chart making it her second number-one album but the sales did not match up to her previous album Innocent Eyes (2003) which sold 4.5 million copies worldwide. The album produced Goodrem two more number-one singles with " Out of the Blue" and " Almost Here", and the rest of the albums singles; " Mistaken Identity" and " A Little Too Late", became top twenty hits. The album features Goodrem's first duet, "Almost Here" (with Irish singer Brian McFadden).

Mistaken identity

Mistaken identity is a defense in criminal law which claims the actual innocence of the criminal defendant, and attempts to undermine evidence of guilt by asserting that any eyewitness to the crime incorrectly thought that they saw the defendant, when in fact the person seen by the witness was someone else. The defendant may question both the memory of the witness (suggesting, for example, that the identification is the result of a false memory), and the perception of the witness (suggesting, for example, that the witness had poor eyesight, or that the crime occurred in a poorly lit place).

Because the prosecution in a criminal case must prove the guilt of the accused beyond a reasonable doubt, the defendant must convince the jury that there is reasonable doubt about whether the witness actually saw what he or she claims to have seen, or recalls having seen. Although scientific studies have shown that mistaken identity is a common phenomenon, jurors give very strong credence to eyewitness testimony, particularly where the eyewitness is resolute in believing that their identification of the defendant was correct.

"Mistaken Identity" is an alternative pop song written by Billy Mann and Delta Goodrem. It was produced and co-written by Billy Mann for Goodrem's second album Mistaken Identity (2004). Mistaken Identity (Donna Summer album)

Mistaken Identity is the fifteenth studio album by Donna Summer, released in 1991.

Since making her name as the biggest female star of the disco era in the 1970s, Summer had experimented with different musical genres throughout the 1980s with varying degrees of success. For Mistaken Identity, Summer adopted a more urban style. The first released single "When Love Cries", peaked at number 77 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Once again her vocal prowess is on display with tracks like "Cry of A Waking Heart", "Friends Unknown", and "Heaven's Just A Whisper Away".

Before the release of the album, New York magazine printed an article about alleged statements Summer had made back in 1983, which cast her in a homophobic light. Summer, who had always denied making the statements, held a press conference in regards to the article printed, and again denied ever making the statements. She sued the magazine (50 million) for libel. The case was settled out of court but the damage had been done.

The album was not a commercial success and failed to chart on both the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. It spent a single week on the US Billboard R&B Albums chart, at #97. Although "When Love Cries" did reach #18 on the Billboard R & B charts.
