What is "mirov"

Mírov (German Mürau) is a village and municipality ( obec) in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 419 (as at 3 July 2006).

Mírov lies approximately south-west of Šumperk, north-west of Olomouc, and east of Prague.

The maximum security Mírov Prison is located in an old castle above the village. Famous inmates held there include a controvert ethnic Hungarian politician János Esterházy.
