Metatron ( Hebrew מטטרון, Arabic ميططرون Mīṭaṭrūn; prob. derived from the Latin metator: "one who metes out or marks off a place, a divider and fixer of boundaries", "a measurer") or Mattatron is an archangel in Judaism and ʾIslām and known in Judaism as the Recording Angel or the Chancellor of Heaven (which makes Adramelech his infernal counterpart). The name Metatron is not mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, nor is it mentioned in the early Enoch literature. How the name originated is a matter of debate. Although Metatron is mentioned in a few brief passages in the Talmud, he appears primarily in mystical Kabbalistic texts within the Rabbinic literature. In that tradition, he is the highest of the angels and serves as the celestial scribe or "recording angel". He is also mentioned in certain ʾIslāmic intercessory/theurgic ægis-orisons (cf. § Talismans and Protection Prayers [ʾAḥrāz] in aṭ-Ṭabrisī's [c. 1075 – c. 1174 ᴄᴇ] Makārim al-ʾAkhlāq مكارم الأخلاق).
According to Jewish apocrypha, Metatron is the name Enoch received, after his transformation into an angel. The book of Genesis (5:24) is often cited as evidence of Enoch's bodily ascension into heaven: "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
Metatron is the name of an angel in Judaism and some branches of Christianity and Islam.

Metatron is the third album of Bill Laswell and Buckethead's project Praxis. This album concentrates on the core band of Buckethead, Brain and Laswell, rather than featuring a large number of guests like the earlier albums.
This album includes calm interludes like the songs "Cathedral Space" and "Double Vision", as well as some mysterious voice samples like in the song "We Are Not Sick Men!" and some of Buckethead's typical noises that are well known. For example, in the song "Armed (TSA Agent #5)" Buckethead plays the melody of "Jingle Bells" with a distorted sampler guitar; also, the song "Warcraft (Bruce Lee's Black Hour of Chaos)" features kung fu inspired screaming.
Metatron is the fourth album by vocalist Mark Stewart, released in 1990 through Mute Records.
