Maruthwamala
The Maruthvamalla Hills are located in Kanniyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India.
In the hills is a cave in which Sree Narayana Guru was enlightened. Guru found the hills and cave while wandering in search of truth. He lived in this cave and sustained himself mostly with berries and tubers, and drank from mountain brooks.
During this time, Guru prayed to God, sometimes sitting in the same position for hours in solitude. He conceived of the idea that the supreme being was Shiva.
A cobra and a tiger are traditionally believe to have guarded him.
