Marigold \Mar"i*gold\, n. [Mary + gold.] (Bot.) A name for several plants with golden yellow blossoms, especially the Calendula officinalis (see Calendula), and the cultivated species of Tagetes.
Note: There are several yellow-flowered plants of different genera bearing this name; as, the African marigold or French marigold of the genus Tagetes, of which several species and many varieties are found in gardens. They are mostly strong-smelling herbs from South America and Mexico: bur marigold, of the genus Bidens; corn marigold, of the genus Chrysanthemum ( Chrysanthemum segetum, a pest in the cornfields of Italy); fig marigold, of the genus Mesembryanthemum; marsh marigold, of the genus Caltha ( Caltha palustris), commonly known in America as the cowslip. "Marigold" (originally titled "Color Pictures of a Marigold") is a song written and composed by American rock musician Dave Grohl, that was first released on Pocketwatch, an album Grohl issued under the pseudonym Late! in 1992.
A version was recorded and released in 1993 by Nirvana as a b-side to the " Heart-Shaped Box" single. A live version was later featured on the Foo Fighters' release Skin and Bones in 2006, garnering "Marigold" the distinction of being the only song released by both Nirvana and Foo Fighters, Grohl's two most distinguished bands.

Marigold is a Swedish music indie-pop band from Borlänge and Falun consisting of Daniel Wallsten (born 1983) on vocals and guitar, Johan Nordin (born 1986) on keyboard and Viktor Olsson (born 1990) on drums. Marigold was created in Borlänge in 2010 and have since then been playing at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, Sofar Sounds, Tv4's Nyhetsmorgon , The Peace & Love festival among others. The band released their first album Vagabond in 2011 and their second album Allt kommer bli bra (= everything is going to be fine), which took 4,5 years to finish, in 2015. Marigold started to release new singles in the spring of 2016, which could mean that a third album is on the way.
On the 2:nd of January 2012 the bands debut album "Vagabond" was named the best album in Dalarna 2011 by the entertainment writer Jonas "Heavy" Stentäpp, Dalademokraten.
