The name Lorven has become popular off late as the word LORVEN is a portmanteau of the words, Lord Venkateswara, the name of a deity in southern India. Venkateswara is also called by many names including: Balaji, Thirumala, Govinda etc., Today more companies and enterprises are coming up by the name of LORVEN as it spells and sounds like a western name, but has a meaning with an Indian background.

Lorven is an educational center that was established in a Rural area of Bangalore about from downtown Bangalore. It was founded by Prof.C.Kanthamma and a group of educationists who wanted to deliver affordable quality education in Rural Bangalore. Kanthamma who has a double Masters ( Master's degree in Science and Master of Philosophy) taught at Bangalore University for over 30 years before embarking on a mission to have a larger impact on India's future generations.

In 2001, Lorven was started with just over 100 students and a few thousand square feet of classroom space. By 2007, Lorven has approximately of class room space with over 1400 students.
