In Hawaiian mythology, Kāne is considered the highest of the four major Hawaiian deities, along with Kanaloa, Kū, and Lono, though he is most closely associated with Kanaloa. He represented the god of procreation and was worshipped as ancestor of chiefs and commoners. Kāne is the creator and gives life associated with dawn, sun and sky. No human sacrifice or laborious ritual was needed in the worship of Kāne.
Glenn Thomas Jacobs (born April 26, 1967) is an American professional wrestler, insurer, and actor. He is signed by WWE, and is best known by his ring name Kane, currently working on the SmackDown brand. Jacobs began his professional wrestling career on the independent circuit in 1992. He wrestled in promotions such as Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) and the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) before joining the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1995. Jacobs played various characters until 1997, when he was repackaged as Kane, the monstrous and/or demonic younger brother of The Undertaker, with whom Jacobs would alternatively feud or team as The Brothers of Destruction.
Following his debut, Kane remained a pivotal component of the company's Attitude Era of the late 1990s and early 2000s, defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship in his first pay-per-view (PPV) main event at King of the Ring 1998. He has continued to compete in world championship PPV matches through the mid 2010s.
Kane has won 18 total championships during his WWF/E career, including being a three-time world champion (having held the WWF Championship, ECW Championship, and World Heavyweight Championship once each) and a 12-time world tag team champion, having held the WWF/E (World) Tag Team Championship, WCW Tag Team Championship, and WWE Tag Team Championships with various partners. He is also a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and a 2010 Money in the Bank winner. Kane is the third man to win the WWE Grand Slam.
Kane or KANE may refer to:
Kane is a literary character created by Karl Edward Wagner in a series of sword and sorcery novels and short stories first published between 1970 and 1985. The stories are set in a grim, pre-medieval world which is nonetheless ancient and rich in history. In some of Wagner's later stories Kane appears in the present day — for example, as a drug dealer in "Lacunae" and as a somewhat suspect publishing magnate in "At First Just Ghostly".
Kane was a Dutch pop band. In its final stage, the group consisted of the two original members, Dinand Woesthoff (lead vocals) and Dennis van Leeuwen (guitar). Their music can be described as "popular rock". The band was inspired by U2, Pearl Jam, Queen and Nirvana.
Kane is an American country rock, southern rock, and Americana band that was formed in 1998 in Los Angeles, California fronted by actor Christian Kane. The band has released two successful independent albums and toured both the U.S. and Europe.
Kane is a multi-section action game published by Mastertronic, originally for the Commodore 64 in 1986. The game was then ported to a wide variety of other home computers. The game is set in the Wild West, and its name is a reference to the main character of the film High Noon. The game consists of four distinct scenes, although some versions only contain two. A sequel to the game was released in 1988.
Kane is a comic book series created, written and drawn by Paul Grist. Grist also self-published it through his company, Dancing Elephant Press. It concerns a police detective who works in the 39th precinct of the fictional American city of New Eden, which seems to be located on the west coast. Despite being a UK citizen, Grist appears to have modeled New Eden and its police force in the style of American Cop shows such as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue. Another clear influence is the work of Frank Miller, particularly his Sin City comics. Cerebus was another formative influence, particularly because it proved to Grist that self-published comics were a viable proposition; the first issue of Cerebus that Grist read was #39, hence the designation of Kane's precinct.
Kane has a difficult relationship with his co-workers due to a violent encounter with his former partner, which unfolds gradually and in flashback during the series. Police corruption is a recurring theme however, Kane is also densely intertextual and brims with references to popular culture, particularly characters from British television, comics and films.
Since the end of 2001 Grist has concentrated his comics work on his superhero character Jack Staff, although he has announced plans to continue Kane as a series of original graphic novels.
Kane is the walled remains of a lunar crater that has been flooded by lava from Mare Frigoris to the south, and it lies on the northeast edge of this mare. The crater lies midway between the craters C. Mayer to the west and Democritus in the east. To the north-northeast is the crater Moigno.
The floor of this crater is flat and covered in lava flow, with no significant craters within the outer rim. Nothing remains of a central peak, if it ever possessed such a feature. The outer wall displays gaps along the south where it joins the Mare Frigoris. The remainder of the rim is circular but displays wear.
The crater is named after the American Arctic explorer Elisha Kent Kane (1820-1857).
Kane is a fictional character in the alternate history universe of Westwood Studios' and Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer real-time strategy video games in which he is a seemingly immortal mastermind behind the ancient and secretive Brotherhood of Nod society. Little is truly known about Kane; many of his followers draw a direct connection between him and the Abrahamic figure of Cain, which he does not go out of his way to confirm or deny. Considered a charismatic and brilliant sociopath by the outside world, Kane is seen by his followers as a holy figure and a messiah.
Kane's origins in the 1995 Command & Conquer series date back to the 1996 game Command & Conquer: Red Alert, in which he can be seen acting in an advisory capacity for USSR leader Joseph Stalin during an alternate World War II fought between the Allies and the Soviet Union. After Stalin's assassination in this timeline, Kane disappears from the political scene, re-emerging in the 1990s to lead the Brotherhood of Nod, a quasi-religious terrorist organization. Over the course of the next fifty years Kane's Brotherhood of Nod engages in an ongoing conflict with the Global Defense Initiative, a multinational military force backed by the United Nations. The conflict between the two parties is characterized by long periods of cold war between the two factions separated by periods of brief but violent military combat on a global scale. Typically, these periods of open conflict coincide with or occur during periods when Kane re-emerges to personally lead the Brotherhood of Nod, while the periods of cold war typically occur during times when Kane is absent from the Brotherhood of Nod. Kane's last appearance was in the 2010 game Tiberium Twilight, in which he and his followers were last seen entering the extraterrestrial Threshold 19 tower, from which they vanished from the Earth.
In all games in which the character has been featured the role of Kane has been portrayed by Joseph D. Kucan. Kane has been the only character in the Command & Conquer franchise to have appeared in all four primary Command & Conquer titles, and is also the only character to have appeared in both the Command & Conquer and Red Alert timelines. Kane's presence in the game series also survived the acquisition and subsequent closure of Westwood Studios by Electronic Arts. Over the years Kane has been well received, earning praise form several independent reviewers and a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

The is a type of dish-shaped bell from Japan. In gagaku music, this instrument is called shōko.
The is often found in traditional Japanese music or Min'yō. Although sometimes suspended from a bar, it is more common for a musician to hold the bell in place with one hand beat it with the other using a special mallet, often made from bone. The kane makes three distinct sounds: chon - hitting the middle; chi - hitting the inside edge; and ki - reversing the stroke. This kind of onomatopoeic mnemonic or shouga is common in Japanese music. There are several sizes of kane, such as the atarigane or the surigane.
Kane are also used in Buddhist or Shinto ceremonies. In temples, they may be used to signify time or alert people to certain events.
