In the Beginning is the second live album by Stevie (Ray) Vaughan and Double Trouble (the stage name at that time did not include Vaughan's middle name). While the album was released about two years after Vaughan's death in 1990, the actual performance took place on April 1, 1980 at Steamboat 1874 in Austin, Texas, and was broadcast live on KLBJ-FM radio. A 25-year-old Vaughan, still more than three years away from the release of his first studio album, performs with his "Double Trouble" bandmates: Chris Layton, drummer, and Jackie Newhouse, bassist. (Newhouse was replaced by bassist Tommy Shannon in January 1981, who would remain part of Double Trouble until Stevie's death.)
In the Beginning (Circa 1960) is the first consolidated American packaging of the 1962 German album by Tony Sheridan and The Beatles (credited as The Beat Brothers), called My Bonnie. In the Beginning (Circa 1960) was released by Polydor Records in 1970 (catalogue number 24-4504.) It was recorded in Hamburg in 1961. This album was originally released as The Beatles' First in Germany in 1964 and in the United Kingdom in 1967. Previous American releases of this material in LP form was split in 1964 between MGM Records and Atco Records. Polydor (which eventually absorbed MGM) established its United States branch in 1969 which explains why this package was released much later in The Beatles' history. Most of the tracks feature vocals by Sheridan. The album was released only four days before Let It Be, The Beatles' final studio album. This is therefore the last Beatles compilation album released whilst the band were still releasing studio albums. All subsequent releases of Sheridan/Beatles/Beat Brothers material are simply repackages of the same tracks. This album is available in a slightly altered CD by Polydor without the inaccurate (Circa 1960) subtitle and with both parts of "Ya Ya". Only part one of that track was released on this LP. In the Beginning (Circa 1960) was also the only Beatles album not owned by EMI though Universal's purchase of Polydor and the Beatles' main catalogue put them under the same ownership.
For a time, this was one of the only Beatles albums available on the iTunes Store until the full catalogue of the Beatles was made available in 2011.

"In the Beginning" is a 1969 song by the progressive rock band The Moody Blues. Written by drummer Graeme Edge, it was released as the opening track on the album On the Threshold of a Dream.
On the Threshold of a Dream is a concept album about dreams, and "In the Beginning" introduces this theme. The track begins with a high-frequency electronic sound, which appears repeatedly on the album. As it begins, the mellotron provides an ascending orchestral sound, which ends abruptly when the verses begin.
The lyrics are spoken rather than sung, and it is the only Moody Blues spoken track to feature multiple members reciting the lyrics. The first part is recited by Justin Hayward, whose character is trying to figure out the meaning of life, says "I think, I think I am. Therefore, I am, I think." The next part, recited by Graeme Edge, who portrays the antagonist from a computer-dominated world, tries to lure the main character into a world of little human interaction due to technology running every aspect of life. Edge's vocal piece also features the sound of heavy machinery in the background.
Hayward's character then returns, refuting this lifestyle with "I'm more than that! I know I am. At least, I think I must be." The final part, recited by Mike Pinder, who is the inner self of the main character, convinces the main character to "keep on thinking free", which is part of the album's concept. The song ends by fading into the next track " Lovely to See You."
In the Beginning is a compilation album by the American folk rock band The Byrds and was released in August 1988 by Rhino Records. The album consists of demos, some of which were previously unreleased, recorded during 1964 at World Pacific Studios in Los Angeles, before the band had secured a recording contract with Columbia Records. Material dating from the band's pre-fame rehearsal sessions at World Pacific had previously appeared on the 1969 album Preflyte, but In the Beginning provides a more comprehensive overview of this period than the earlier compilation. Upon release, In the Beginning garnered mostly positive reviews from critics but failed to reach the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart or the UK Albums Chart.
During preparation for the album, Rhino Records elected to include as many previously unreleased versions of songs as possible, rather than simply duplicate the contents of the Preflyte album. As a result of this, of the seventeen tracks that make up In the Beginning, only five are exactly the same recordings that were included on the earlier compilation album. In the Beginning also includes six alternate takes of songs that appeared on Preflyte, alternate versions of both sides of a one-off single that the group released on Elektra Records in 1964 (under the pseudonym of The Beefeaters), a primitive acoustic demo of "The Only Girl I Adore" that had previously been released on the Early LA various artists compilation, a previously unreleased early version of "It's No Use", and two recordings of the previously unreleased song "Tomorrow Is a Long Ways Away".
Noting the album's emphasis on newly released material, The Byrds' biographer Johnny Rogan commented that In the Beginning took "the brave decision to include as many alternate takes as possible, irrespective of their quality" and concluded that the "CD captured the very genesis of The Byrds." Music historian and journalist Richie Unterberger, writing for the Allmusic website, has described the music on the album as "excellent, though more tentative and less polished than their 'official' Columbia work." However, Unterberger also complained that "some of the alternate takes are inferior to those on the original Preflyte album."
In the Beginning is currently out of print and has been supplanted by the exhaustive double CD compilation The Preflyte Sessions.
