halobacters
halobacter \halobacter\, halobacterium \halobacterium\n.; pl. halobacteria, or halobacters. Any halophilic bacterium of the archaebacteria group, expecially of the genera Halobacterium and Halococcus, which live in saline environments such as the Dead Sea or salt flats.
