In law, medicine, and statistics, cause of death is a term which refers to an official determination of conditions resulting in a human's death. In modern times, such determinations usually become an essential data point of a federal death certificate.
Cause of Death is the second album by American death metal band Obituary. It was released on September 19, 1990. Cause of Death is considered a classic album in the history of death metal. The artwork was done by artist Michael Whelan. It is their first release with longtime member Frank Watkins on bass, and also their first and only album with guitarist James Murphy, previously of the group Death.
The cover art of this album was used in an H.P. Lovecraft collection, Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre, and part of it was used in The Tomb and The Doom That Came to Sarnath paperbacks. It was supposed to be the cover of Sepultura's album Beneath the Remains, but Roadrunner Records let Obituary use it first, even though Cause of Death was released a year after Beneath the Remains. Roadrunner Records forced Sepultura to use another Michael Whelan illustration for Beneath The Remains's cover.

Cause of Death: Can you Catch the Killer? (frequently shortened to Cause of Death or CoD) was a video game developed and published by EA Mobile for iOS devices on December 16, 2010 that was removed from the App Store in September 2014. While being almost identical in gameplay, the game is intended for a more mature audience than its companion game Surviving High School, as the game revolves around crime and serial killers and their pursuit by law enforcement (and its text depicts some rather graphic and suggestive things at times). Understandably, the suggested age on the App Store is 12+. Cause of Death is a visual novel that is divided into a series of volumes, each of which is made up of eight chapters (excluding the first, fourteenth and sixteenth volumes). The base game (which was free from the App Store) came with the entire first Volume—future content needed to have been downloaded either by "Episodes on Demand" or "Now Airing". The first 6-episode volume was released in December 2010, and the series released its final episode in July 2014, and the game was unlisted from the App Store in September 2014 (though people who downloaded the game whilst it was up can re-download it as the game wasn't removed by Apple).

Despite my suspicions about Eddings' cause of death and the strange events surrounding it, at this moment we legally had no homicide.
All my life I have wondered what is death and what is the cause of death.
Suppose, for example, that a man dies of arsenic poisoning, we say that his taking arsenic was the cause of death.
But we may go further: swallowing arsenic is not really the proximate cause of death, since a man might be shot through the head immediately after taking the dose, and then it would not be of arsenic that he would die.
