What is "calathus"

Calathus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Palearctic (including Europe), the Near East and North Africa.

A Calathus was a term used by the ancient Greeks to refer to a reed, vase-shaped basket.

These baskets were made by weaving together reeds or twigs. They were typically used by women to store skeins of wool, but they had other uses in the household.
