Brenneria

Brenneria is a genus of Enterobacteria, containing mostly pathogens of woody plants. This genus is named after the microbiologist Don J. Brenner.

Most members of this genus were formerly placed in Erwinia. Recently, several species of Brenneria have been re-classified, and novel species added, due in part, to ongoing research on the potential involvement of Brenneria in the Decline disease, Acute Oak Decline (AOD) in the United Kingdom.

Species now placed in Brenneria include:

  • Brenneria alni
  • Brenneria nigrifluens
  • Brenneria goodwinii
  • Brenneria rubrifaciens
  • Brenneria salicis
  • Brenneria roseae subsp. americana
  • Brenneria roseae subsp. roseae
  • Brenneria populi
