Blue Mountain is a ridge that forms the eastern edge of the Appalachian mountain range in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It cuts across the eastern half of the state from New Jersey to Maryland, providing a distinct boundary between a number of Pennsylvania's geographical and cultural regions. To its northwest side are the southern and central mountains and valleys, the " coal region," and the Poconos. To its southeast side are the Cumberland Valley, the "capital region," Lebanon Valley, Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and the Lehigh Valley.
Blue Mountain is an alpine ski resort in Ontario, Canada, just northwest of Collingwood. It is situated on a section of the Niagara Escarpment about 1 km (0.6 mi.) from Nottawasaga Bay, and is a major destination for skiers from southern Ontario. On average, Blue Mountain sells more than 750,000 lift tickets per year, making it the third-busiest ski resort in Canada, after Whistler-Blackcomb in British Columbia and Mont Tremblant in Quebec. It is one of the largest resorts in Ontario and has been extensively built out, featuring 42 runs, 16 chairlifts and 3 freestyle terrains. Majority-owned by Intrawest since 1999, the resort has recently undergone major renovations, including new high-speed lifts and a new "village" similar to those built at Tremblant and Whistler at its base. The local area forms the newly incorporated town of The Blue Mountains, Ontario.

Blue Mountain is a visually prominent section of the Niagara Escarpment located in Grey County in Southern Ontario, Canada, rising to heights of over 300 metres (1000’) above the land and Georgian Bay. Many activities and natural beauty abound in the area such as biking, skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Wedged between the mountain and the bay communities include Clarksburg, Craigleith, Thornbury now amalgamated as Town of the Blue Mountains. Blue Mountain village offers a variety of accommodations, restaurants, and activities. Intrawest Resorts owns and operates the Village.
Blue Mountain was a supercomputer designed to run simulations for the United States National Nuclear Security Administration's Advanced Simulation and Computing program. It is capable of 3.1 trillion operations per second. In June 1999 it was the world's second fastest computer, and remained among the world's ten fastest computers until November 2001.
According to the Los Alamos National Laboratory website, the supercomputer set a world record in May 2000, with the equivalent of 17.8 years of normal computer processing within 72 hours, including 15,000 engineering simulations requiring 10 hours each.
