BattleBots

BattleBots is an American competition television series. Competitors design and operate remote-controlled armed and armored machines designed to fight in an arena combat elimination tournament. For five seasons, BattleBots aired on the American Comedy Central and was hosted by Bil Dwyer, Sean Salisbury, and Tim Green. Comedy Central's first season premiered on August 30, 2000, and its fifth and last season ended on December 21, 2002.

A six-episode revival series premiered on ABC on June 21, 2015 to generally favorable reviews and ratings. ABC has renewed BattleBots for a seventh season, which premiered on June 23, 2016.

BattleBots (video game)

BattleBots was a video game based on the BattleBots license for PlayStation 2 and GameCube. It got fairly far in development. Many screenshots were released to media outlets and it obtained a rating from the ESRB, but it was ultimately cancelled after the show was cancelled. However, prototypes of the game were sold on the BattleBots website for $150. Additionally, photographic evidence of the game being played proves that there are copies in existence, so the game could be brought to the Internet in the form of a ROM.

BattleBots (season 1)

Season 1 of the American competitive television series BattleBots premiered on Comedy Central on August 23, 2000. Season 1 of BattleBots was hosted by Bil Dwyer and Sean Salisbury. Legendary boxing ring announcer and radio host Mark Beiro acted as the BattleBots arena announcer. Donna D'Errico, along with twins Randy and Jason Sklar were the arena-side correspondents.

The pilot, known as episode one was originally aired as a Pay-per-view event before being pitched to network executives.

BattleBots (season 6)

Season 6 (also referred to as Season 1 on ABC) of the American competitive television series BattleBots premiered on ABC on June 21, 2015.

In February 2015, ABC announced that it was bringing back BattleBots, which featured a 16-team single-elimination tournament.

Former UFC fighter Kenny Florian and MLB/NFL Sportscaster Chris Rose hosted, Faruq Tauheed acted as the arena announcer, and Alison Haislip was the sideline and behind the scenes reporter. Molly McGrath was the presenter.

Robots in season 6 competed in one 250-pound weight class, as opposed to the multiple weight classes in seasons 1-5.

BattleBots (season 7)

Season seven (also referred to as season two on ABC) of the American competitive television series BattleBots premiered on ABC on June 23, 2016.

In November 2015, ABC announced that it had renewed the BattleBots revival for a second season, which will feature an expansion to a 32-team field.

Former UFC fighter Kenny Florian and MLB/NFL Sportscaster Chris Rose return from last season to host this second season of BattleBots on ABC. Also returning from last season are Faruq Tauheed as the arena announcer and Alison Haislip as the sideline and behind the scenes reporter. Molly McGrath has been replaced by Samantha Ponder as the presenter.

Robots in season 7, as in season 6, will compete in one 250-pound weight class, as opposed to the multiple weight classes in seasons 1-5.
