Azhagi ( 2002) is a Tamil romantic drama film directed by Thangar Bachchan. The film is critically acclaimed and stars Parthiban, Nandita Das and Devayani. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The movie was remade in Telugu as Letha Manasulu (2004) starring Srikanth, Kalyani and Gopika in lead roles.
Azhagi is a freeware transliteration tool used to convert the words to regional languages like Tamil, Hindi and some other Indian languages which The Hindu named as among the transliteration tools that "stand out" in 2002. Since 2000, Azhagi has provided support to Tamil transliteration; later this was expanded to nearly 13 Indian Languages.
In 2006 Azhagi was the recipient of the Manthan Award of India's Digital Empowerment Foundation and the World Summit Award project, in the category Localization. In the same year Azhagi was identified as a "success story" by Microsoft's Bhashaindia.com Indic language computing site.
Azhagi is an Tamil soap opera that aired Monday through Friday on Sun TV from 10 October 2011 to 4 March 2016 at 10:30PM IST for 1101 episodes. It had been receiving the highest ratings of Tamil serials and received high praising from viewers.
The show starred Viji Chandrasekhar, Kamal Deep, Soniya and Ilavarasan among others. It was produced by Vikatan Televistas Pvt Ltd and director by V.C Ravi, A. Jawahar, E. Vikramadhithan and M.Iniyan Dinesh.
The series has been remade into Telugu language as Amma broadcast on Gemini TV, and Malayalam language as Amma Manasam broadcast on Surya TV.
