Available energy (particle collision)

In particle physics, the available energy is the energy in a particle collision available to produce new matter from the kinetic energy of the colliding particles. Since the conservation of momentum must be held, a system of two particles with a net momentum may not convert all their kinetic energy into mass - and thus the available energy is always less than or equal to the kinetic energy of the colliding particles. The available energy for a system of one stationary particle and one moving particle is defined as:

$$E_a = \sqrt{2 E_t E_k + (m_t c^2)^2 + (m_k c^2)^2}$$
where

E is the total energy of the target particle, E is the total energy of the moving particle, m is the mass of the stationary target particle, m is the mass of the moving particle, and c is the speed of light.

We could use those brains as a concentrating device, a type of psychic lens, and increase the available energy which our own minds could tap.

If the damage taken by a spellfire wielder ever brings him or her to the brink of death (0 hit points or beyond) when his or her spellfire is active, and the wielder is 5th level or higher in spellfire use, the spellfire instantly and automatically turns to healing mode and keeps the wielder alive, raising him or her to a positive total of at least 12 hit points before restoring control over spellfire to the wielder (unless available energy runs out before then).

Considering the promises contained in those contracts, the repercussions of a drop in available energy, and the rights of the satellites to demand compensation, three prod igal nephews might well be the least of Anheliaa's cur rent concerns.

It had plenty of available energy-according to Aybee's recollection, almost exactly as much as the old one.

Anyone or any group or any country that could suck all the available energy out of the equivalent of perhaps fifty to a hundred pounds of plutonium without exploding it, had America's industry and America's defense so snugly in the palm of the hand that the light and life of one hundred sixty million people could be turned off between yawns.

As he understood it, the theory went that the mist was a physical manifestation of the available energy in these pockets of Underhill.
