early 15c., from Old French auborne, from Medieval Latin alburnus "off-white, whitish," from Latin albus "white" (see alb). It came to English meaning "yellowish-white, flaxen," but shifted 16c. to "reddish-brown" under influence of Middle English brun "brown," which also changed the spelling.

Auburn is an Antebellum Greek Revival mansion in Duncan Park in Natchez, Mississippi. It was designed and constructed by Levi Weeks in 1812, the first planned building in the town. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974 and a Mississippi Landmark in 1984.
Auburn Williams (born December 2, 1990) is an American singer-songwriter. Auburn released an independent debut album, Same Girl in 2007, which spawned the underground hit "Ewww Ewww". The song reached no. 6 on DJ Booth's Underground chart. She then signed to Warner Brothers and Beluga Heights in early 2008 and released her first official single "La La La" in mid-2010.
Auburn is a historic home located at Bowling Green, Caroline County, Virginia. It was built about 1843, and is a two-story, three bay wide, frame dwelling in the Greek Revival style. It sits on a brick English basement. It has a two-story rear ell added in the late-19th century and a sunroom added about 1930. Also on the property is a contributing shed (c. 1940).
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Auburn, also known as Auburn Farm, is a historic home and farm located near Brandy Station, Culpeper County, Virginia. It was built about 1855-1856, and is a three-story, three bay by three bay frame dwelling, built in the Greek Revival style. It features a two-story portico with a heavy entablature including triglyph and metope frieze. Also on the property are the contributing kitchen (c. 1855–1856); 20th-century garage, chicken house, meat house, and machine shed; two barns; a large corncrib; and two tenant houses.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
