ALONE

ALONE is a charity organization in Ireland highlighting the plight of older people living alone. Founded in 1977 by the late Willie Bermingham to help elderly people living on their own who may feel isolated and lonely, volunteers visit older people and befriend them. The name ALONE was chosen as an acronym of the words; ‘A Little Offering Never Ends’.

ALONE 'works with the 1 in 5 older people who are homeless, socially isolated, living in deprivation or in crisis'. They provide Supportive Housing, Befriending, Community Response and Campaigning services to older people 365 days a year.

ALONE's Fundraising work includes The Key To Dignity campaign to raise money to provide homes for homeless older people.

In Glasnevin Cemetery there is the Alone Millenium Plot where the charity buries those who were unclaimed when they died and had no one to take care of a funeral for them.

In 2012 Alone celebrated 35 years of service.

"Alone (Why Must I Be Alone)" is a popular song written by Morty Craft. Craft owned a record label, and produced the recording by the Shepherd Sisters on that label. The lyrics were written by Craft's wife, Selma.

While it was the only hit for The Shepherd Sisters (as The Sheps) in the United States (reaching #18 on the Billboard charts on November 11, 1957), in the United Kingdom it was one of a number of hits for Petula Clark (reaching #8 on the UK charts) before she became famous internationally. The Shepherd Sisters' version also charted in the UK, reaching #14, and another version, by The Southlanders, reached #17 on the UK chart.

A remake of the song by The Four Seasons charted in 1964, reaching its peak Billboard Hot 100 position at #28, on July 18. "Alone (Why Must I Be Alone" also went to #8 on the Canadian singles chart. It was the act's last hit single on Vee Jay Records, as The Four Seasons left the label at the beginning of 1964 in a royalty dispute. The Four Seasons recording of the song features a refrain that is whistled.

The song was also subsequently recorded by Tracey Ullman.

Alone is the eighth studio album released by Modern Talking, and their second after their 1998 reunion. It was released on 19 February 1999 by Hansa Records, BMG. Two singles were released off this album "You Are Not Alone" and "Sexy Sexy Lover", first one of which peaked at No. 7 and the second at No. 15 in Germany. The album Alone entered the German album chart at No. 1 on March 8, 1999 and spent four consecutive weeks at the top. After spending total of 27 weeks on the album chart, Alone eventually went platinum, shipping more than 500,000 units in Germany.

Alone (, meaning "Alone"), also known in English by the transliterated Russian title Odna, is a Soviet film released in 1931. It was written and directed by Leonid Trauberg and Grigori Kozintsev. It was originally planned as a silent film, but it was eventually released with a soundtrack comprising sound effects, some dialogue (recorded after the filming) and a full orchestral score by Dmitri Shostakovich. The film, about a young teacher sent to work in Siberia, is in a realist mode and addresses three political topics then current: education, technology, and the elimination of the kulaks.

Alone (Bee Gees song)

"Alone" is a song by the Bee Gees. It is the opening track on the multi-platinum Still Waters album released by the Bee Gees in 1997, and the first single from the album. The song is a pop ballad written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb recorded in 1996. The track was a big hit worldwide, peaking at number 5 in the UK and dominating the charts in Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia at number 1. Alone is an album by jazz musician Bill Evans, recorded in late 1968 for Verve Records. The year of release is unclear, even though a release in the first months of 1970 is a strong possibility. The Grammy Award-winning Alone was Bill Evans' first single piano solo album following in the footsteps of his 1963 Verve session Conversations With Myself (three pianos overdubbed) and his 1967 Further Conversations with Myself, also on Verve (two pianos overdubbed). It has been reissued in various forms with additional tracks and alternate takes from sessions on September 23, October 8 and 21st.

"Alone" is the nineteenth episode of the eight season and the 180th episode overall of the science fiction television series The X-Files. The episode first aired in the United States on May 6, 2001 on Fox, and subsequently aired in the United Kingdom on Sky1 on June 14, 2001. It was written and directed by executive producer Frank Spotnitz. "Alone" earned a Nielsen household rating of 7.5 and was viewed by 12.7 million viewers. It received mixed to positive reviews from television critics.

The show centers on FBI special agents John Doggett ( Robert Patrick) and Dana Scully ( Gillian Anderson)—as well as ex-FBI agent Fox Mulder ( David Duchovny)—who work on cases linked to the paranormal, called X-Files. In this episode, Doggett is paired with an enthusiastic young agent named Leyla Harrison who knows everything about the X-Files, when Scully goes on maternity leave. Harrison's apotheosis of Mulder and Scully leads to Doggett learning a thing or two. But when Harrison and Doggett disappear, Mulder defies orders in an attempt to find them.

"Alone" marked the directorial debut of Spotnitz, who had been a writer on the show for several years. In addition, the episode would be the last Monster-of-the-Week episode to feature an appearance by David Duchovny as Fox Mulder until the Season 10 revival. The character of Leyla Harrison was named after an X-Files fan who died of cancer in 2001.

This episode marks the beginning of the relationship between Bob and Sasha, as well as the mysterious kidnapping of Beth Greene after having long spent time bonding with fellow survivor, Daryl Dixon. Maggie Greene's efforts to find her husband and Sasha's reluctance to travel further to Terminus are also explored, which causes the group to split up, before they find one another and subsequently vow not to be alone again.

The episode title refers to Bob Stookey, having been the lone survivor of two previous groups, and Daryl Dixon, being on his own after Beth is mysteriously abducted.

Alone is an American reality television series on History, from executive producers Russ McCarroll and Zachary Behr for History and Gretchen Palek, Shawn Witt, David George, and Brent Montgomery of Leftfield Pictures. The series is filmed in northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, following the self-documented day-to-day lives of 10 individuals as they attempt to survive in the wilderness for as long as possible. The participants are isolated from each other and all human contact, and the one who remains on the island the longest wins a grand prize of $500,000. The series premiered on June 18, 2015.

On August 19, 2015, before the finale of season 1, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season, to begin production in the fall of 2015 on Vancouver Island. Season 2 premiered on April 21, 2016.

Season 3 is being filmed spring of 2016 in Patagonia.
