Adelphia

district of London, so called because it was laid out by four brothers of a family named Adam, from Greek adelphos "brother," literally "from the same womb," from copulative prefix a- "together with" + delphys "womb," perhaps related to dolphin. The district was the site of a popular theater c.1882-1900, which gave its name to a style of performance.

Adelphia (plant)

Adelphia is a genus in the Malpighiaceae, a family of about 75 genera of flowering plants in the order Malpighiales. Adelphia comprises four species of woody vines native to the West Indies, Mesoamerica, and western South America.

Adelphia (fancies)

Adelphia New Years Association is one of only four Fancy Mother Clubs in Philadelphia's centuries old Mummers Parade. They are one of only two new clubs added to the Parade since 1960.Becky Bacha, Philadelphia Daily News, 28 December 2007. . Accessed 8 January 2008. They are the first new Fancy added to the Parade since Hog Island in 1942. Based in Wilmington, Delaware, they are the first Fancy formed out of state.

Unlike most older clubs, they do not have a clubhouse, warehouse full of equipment or significant funding from paid events. They are named after Adelphia Avenue in Wilmington, where one of the members of the founding family lives—they meet in his garage and his basement serves as their costume shop. Their first march in 2008 highlighted by all-new costumes and a performance at Washington Avenue. (Most Fancies reuse portions of their costumes and do not drill at Washington Avenue.) They placed last in their division.

Adelphia is the second studio album by American post-hardcore band A Skylit Drive and the first on Fearless Records. It was released on June 9, 2009. The album peaked at 64 on the Billboard 200 as well as number 11 on the Top Independent Albums.

Adelphia (moth)

Adelphia is a genus of snout moths in the subfamily Phycitinae. It was described by Heinrich, in 1956. The type species is Adelphia petrella, which was originally described as Pempelia petrella by Zeller, in 1846. It is found in North America, from New Jersey to Florida and westward to Iowa and Texas.

Another species, Adelphia ochripunctella, was formerly included in this genus, but is now placed in the genus Pseudadelphia.
