Usage examples of predators.

The pests become a problem because none of their natural predators live inside the house.

Other predators include parasitic wasps, aphid lions, predaceous mites and syrphid flies.

A number of parasitic wasps will attack earworms, and green lacewings make excellent predators too.

These are the 26- and 28-spot ladybeetles, who look like predators, but who actually go through life gobbling your rockmelons, zucchinis, tomatoes and potatoes.

Ironically, most fall prey when they first hatch to ants, lizards, and other predators - larger mantises included.

Other predators include praying mantises, spiders, frogs and chickens.

Most predators eat many, many insects in the course of their life span, and their appetites can be amazing.

Even as the wasp was being crunched and devoured by the mantis, it continued to lick the honey from the bee it had captured - good predators never give up!

If it is too big, predators can get in and the birds will not feel so secure.

Their entire lives are spent hunting and devouring bugs, and they have been called the dominant predators on earth because they kill more insects than birds do and destroy them more efficiently than insecticides.

Actually, less than one per cent of all insects are considered pests, and virtually all have predators and parasites of their own to contend with.

Many of these predators feed on nectar and honeydew while in the adult stage, so plant flowers among the vegetables to give them something to eat.

Their larvae are insect predators, but the adults no longer soldier and spend their days on flowers.

Some are pests, like the green vegetable bug or the bronze-orange citrus bug, while others are useful predators, like the colourful assassin bugs that prowl through your garden sucking the life out of pests.

Just remember it takes the predators a little while to catch up with the pest.
