What is "zekharia"

Zekharia is a moshav in central Israel. Located near Beit Shemesh, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. In 2012 it had a population of 935.

The village was established in 1950 by Kurdish Jewish immigrants on land formerly part of the village of Az-Zakariyya. Both were named after the Hebrew prophet Zechariah.
