Zambezia: The Journal of Humanities of the University of Zimbabwe was a biannual academic journal in the Humanities published by the University of Zimbabwe from 1969 to 2005. The journal specialized in humanities in Zimbabwe and other African countries in the surrounding region, but also included other topics of general interest.
Zambezia (also known as Adventures in Zambezia) is a 2012 English-language South African 3D computer-animated family comedy-drama fantasy action- adventure film, which was theatrically released on July 3, 2012. The film tells the story of a young peregrine falcon who leaves the desolate desert where he lives with his father to discover action and adventure in the big city of Zambezia.
The film was directed by Wayne Thornley, and written by Andrew Cook, Raffaella Delle Donne, and Anthony Silverston. It is the first film produced by Triggerfish Animation Studios and distributed by Cinema Management Group and Sony Pictures in English territories. This film stars the voices of Jeremy Suarez, Abigail Breslin, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, and Samuel L. Jackson with supporting roles done by David Shaughnessy, Richard E. Grant, Jenifer Lewis, Tania Gunadi, Jim Cummings, and Jamal Mixon. This was Nimoy's last animated feature film before his death in 2015.
Zambezia earned $34.4 million on a R173 million ($20 million) budget. It received Annie Award nominations for Music in an Animated Feature Production and for Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production. The film won the Best South African Feature Film at the Durban International Film Festival in 2012. It also won Best Animation at the South African Film and Television Awards and Best Animation at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
