What is "wolqayt"

Wolqayt (also Welqayt, Wolkait, Walkait Ge'ez ወልቃይት welḳāyt or wolḳāyt, ) is the woreda and region in the Amhara state of Gondar, Ethiopia. It is named after the historic province of Wolkayt. This woreda is located in the Amhara region of Ethiopia and is bordered by Kafta Humera, then separated on the east by [Asgede Tsimbela], part of the eastern border is along the Tekezé River, and on the south by Tsegede. The administrative center of Wolqayt is Adi Remets. Other modern towns in this woreda include Mai'gaba and Awura.
