WiLAN (trading as Wi-LAN Inc.) is a technology development and intellectual property licensing company with headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. WiLAN licenses patent portfolios that it owns and also partner with owners of patent portfolios through its subsidiary, Gladios IP. According to the New York Times, "As of December 31, 2011, WiLAN had a portfolio of approximately 3,000 patents, including issued and pending patents and foreign equivalents." WiLAN, through its subsidiary, Cygnus Broadband, conducts ongoing research and development into advanced wireless communication systems.
Wi-LAN Inc. is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.
