Wikipedia
Wigger

Wigger (common spelling: wigga) is a slang term for a white person who emulates the perceived mannerisms, language, and fashions associated with African-American culture, particularly hip hop, and in Britain, the grime scene. The term is a portmanteau of white and nigger. The term "nigger" has often been used disparagingly, and since the mid-20th century, particularly in the United States, its usage became unambiguously pejorative and it is viewed as a racist insult.

One dictionary defines the term as a slang, derogatory reference to "...a white youth who adopts black youth culture by adopting its speech, wearing its clothes, and listening to its music." Another dictionary defines the term as "offensive slang" referring to a "...white person, usually a teenager or young adult, who adopts the fashions, the tastes, and often the mannerisms considered typical of urban black youth."

The term may be considered derogatory, reflecting stereotypes of African-American, black British and white culture (when used as synonym of white trash). The wannabe connotation may be used pejoratively, implying a failed attempt at cultural appropriation by a white subject. It is also sometimes used in a racist manner by the white culture, not only belittling the person perceived as "acting black", but also demeaning black people and culture, by proxy. It can also be seen as exploitative by African Amercicans and seen as robbing black culture of the credit for the purpose of the member of the white culture to appear as innovative or edgy at the expense of black culture.

Wigger (river)

The Wigger (formerly also called Wiggeren) is a river in the Swiss cantons of Lucerne and Aargau. It is an important tributary of the river Aare. The Wigger is around 41 kilometers long and flows from south to north for most of its length. The largest city in the Wigger valley is Zofingen.

The river rises from the north slope of the Napf in the canton of Lucerne near the border to the canton of Berne in a height of about 1300 meters. There it is called Enziwigger. It flows through a narrow valley towards Hergiswil bei Willisau where the valley widens and flattens. Shortly after the small city of Willisau it joins with the Buchwigger and is called just Wigger from there. The valley widens further to a flat and broad plain. North of Dagmersellen the Wigger is mostly restricted to a canal bed and flows partially parallel to the A2 motorway. Between Reiden and Brittnau it crosses the border to Aargau. It flows into the Aar between Rothrist and Aarburg at a height of 395 meters.

Tributaries of the Wigger are the Seewag, the Wanger-Rot, the Ron, the Luthern and the Hürnbach.

In 1821 the Wigger's course was corrected ( channelized) by order of the government of the canton of Aargau. Until the second half of the 19th century the area of the Wigger's confluence with the Aar was a location of placer mining for gold, but this stopped due to dissatisfactory yield.

Wigger is a 1974 novel written by William Goldman about a young girl who loses her blanket.

Wigger was named for a blanket that belonged to Goldman's daughter Susanna. Goldman later said the novel was one of his favourites and writing it was a "wonderful experience... compared to what it's like ordinarily."

The book was voted a Book of the Year by the Child Study Association. However Goldman has not written another children's book.

Usage examples of "wigger".

Deserted children on a deserted landscape, they swoop above the ruins, a flying orgy, a rainbow saturnalia, an ecstasy of soaring poseurs, punks, and wiggers, who consecrate their youths to a scorned and ancient vocation: to transcend their mortality, to wrest one moment from eternity and soar above the defeated earth.
