Whooping \Whoop"ing\, a. & n. from Whoop, v. t.

Whooping cough (Med.), a violent, convulsive cough, returning at longer or shorter intervals, and consisting of several expirations, followed by a sonorous inspiration, or whoop; chin cough; hooping cough.
