n. A medium to large breed of predominantly white dog with short, coarse coat, square, flat skull with powerful jaws and hind legs, originally bred as a protection and defense dog against the hostile frontier of early Spanish Florida. They are the closest descendents to the old spanish guard and war dogs brought to argentina and spanish florida by spanish settlers and inquisitors and they also have strong influence of the british alaunt.
