Weem

Weem ( Scottish Gaelic: Baile a' Chlachain) is a village on the B846 near Aberfeldy in Perthshire, Scotland. The name Weem is derived from the Gaelic uamh, meaning 'cave'.

Nearby is Castle Menzies, formerly known as Weem Castle, where Bonnie Prince Charlie spent two nights on his way to the Battle of Culloden in 1746. One of Scotland's best-preserved 16th-century castles, Castle Menzies is the seat of Clan Menzies. Looked after by a private preservation trust, the Castle and grounds are open to visitors in summer (entrance charge).

The Old Parish Church of Weem, of medieval origin, contains the funerary monuments of the Menzies family going back to the 16th century, and the heraldic hatchments carried at their funerals. Key from neighbouring cottage.

There are two pubs in Weem, the Ailean Chraggan and the Weem Hotel.

The Album borrows three tracks from the 2008 Appendices (which was released one track per month over the course of the year).

Usage examples of "weem".

Lowrey, were bodyguards to their gangland boss and my friend, Gordy Weems.

Weems, in his life of our subject, gives us some pictures, equally lively and ludicrous, of his progress in the business of recruiting, upon which, in connection with his friend, Captain Horry, he at once begun.

Weems, from facts furnished by Horry, is already well known to the public.

Weems, speaking for Horry, describes in ludicrous terms, their journey through North Carolina, -- through a region swarming with Tories, but, fortunately for our travellers, who were venomous without being active.

Weems, speaking for Horry, tells us that he met with Captain Merritt after the war in New York, who recognized him, and told him that he had never had such a fright in all his life as upon that occasion.

It struck the backstop not a foot from the goal, but before the eagle-eyed Weems could shift his hand, a Polliwog player was in the air and had caught it with one of his reflectors.

Weems is re-reading the report with renewed urgency, in the event it requires expurgating on the stroll to the copy machine.

And he wanted to stay away from there until Andy Pobble would have time to deliver his message and Weems would have slipped away for his trek into the badlands.

I hung back and when Pobble and Weems and the girl had all left, I rode in and found out from Grogarty what was going on.

Claudell Weems shot the Coke machine three more times, firing as fast as he could work the pump action.

And while all of his teachers had found him odd (both Mrs Douglas, his fifth-grade teacher, and Mrs Weems, who had had Patrick in the third grade, knew about the pencil-box full of flies, and while neither of them totally ignored the implications, each had between twenty and twenty-eight other students, each with problems of his or her own), none of them had serious disciplinary problems with him.
